00:00When Bruce Lamond lost his defamation case, he was ordered to pay Network 10 $2 million.
00:10Today he was asking the court to put a stay to that cost order, which would effectively
00:15stop 10 from being able to pursue him for that cost.
00:20For its part, the broadcaster Network 10 was asking for a security of $200,000 that Mr
00:27Lamond would pay, and that would cover the broadcaster's legal fees in the event that
00:34the appeal is lost.
00:36But today the court ruled that Mr Lamond effectively won on both counts.
00:41He does not need to pay the $2 million in costs at this stage until the appeal has run
00:48its course.
00:49And he also does not have to pay the $200,000 security.
00:55And that means the path is clear for Mr Lamond to appeal against the findings in the defamation
01:01case.
01:02So Jade, where to from here?
01:05So just as Wendy Abraham today only appeared before the court for less than five minutes,
01:11it was a very quick declaration from her before the court.
01:16She declared her decision and she will publish her reasons.
01:20We will bring them to you when we have them.
01:22We don't have them yet.
01:25For now, though, the parties are scheduled to meet in a fortnight to work out when and
01:30how the appeal will run its course.
01:33And it's likely from the discussions we heard from the parties today in court that that
01:38could happen in March.
01:40And that will be the appeal against the findings in the defamation case that was brought and
01:46lost by Bruce Lamond.
