00:30The new parliamentary committee that was established on the 26th, was nominated by the majority.
00:39After that, the Prime Minister sent a summary to the President, in which he was advised that
00:47a new thing should be decided according to the recommendations of the parliamentary committee.
00:53The President has approved the recommendations of Article 175, Article 3, Article 177 and Article 189.
01:01Justice Yahya Afridi will take over the post of Chief Justice on 26th October.
01:07And on 25th October, the current Chief Justice, Justice Qazi Faizi Saab, will retire after completing his post.
01:14Yes, Zara.
01:15Thank you very much for updating us.
01:18President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
01:23President Mubalikat has appointed Justice Yahya Afridi for three years from 26th October.
01:39And before this, the Supreme Court Chief Justice, Justice Yahya Afridi, was nominated by the Special Parliamentary Committee with two thirds majority.
01:46Let's take a look at the report on the career of Chief Justice, Justice Yahya Afridi.
01:52Supreme Court Chief Justice, Justice Yahya Afridi was born on 23rd January 1965 in Dehr-e-Ismail Khan.
01:58He got his primary education from HSN College, Lahore.
02:01He got his graduation from Government College, Lahore and his MA from Punjab University, Lahore.
02:07He also got his LLM degree from Cambridge University, UK.
02:11Justice Yahya Afridi started his practice as a High Court lawyer in 1990.
02:16And in 2004, he started his legal practice as a Supreme Court lawyer.
02:20He also served as Assistant Advocate General for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
02:25In 2010, additional judges of Peshawar High Court were appointed.
02:28He was appointed as an independent judge on 15th March 2012.
02:32On 30th December 2016, Justice Yahya Afridi took over the post of Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court.
02:39On 28th June 2018, Supreme Court of Pakistan appointed a judge.
02:43Justice Yahya Afridi submitted various cases in the Supreme Court.
02:47The case related to the special sessions of Sunni Tihar Council was a part of Lajab Bench.
02:52And he also wrote his controversial note in the decision related to the case.
02:57After the special parliamentary committee meeting, the committee had a discussion.
03:01Farooq H. Naik said that he accepted the name with two-thirds majority.
03:04In camera, we cannot tell the state of proceedings.
03:07Khawaja Asif said that 8 judges testified in the name of Justice Yahya Afridi.
03:11But none of them testified.
03:15These were in-camera proceedings.
03:17They were confidential.
03:18And we are the court.
03:20We will tell you the deliberations that took place.
03:22I can only tell you that according to the ruling, two-thirds majority decided that
03:28Yahya Afridi was the future Chief Justice of Pakistan.
03:32The PTI issued notices.
03:35We did not request them.
03:36But they did not meet us.
03:38When will the meeting take place?
03:40We will talk about the DMX case.
03:42We will nominate the court with two-thirds majority.
03:48And we will give the name to the Prime Minister.
03:50The discussion that took place regarding this case,
03:53I think, is not good to talk to the members of the committee in the media.
03:58The two-thirds majority decided that
04:01we will not wait for Pakistan.
04:06The three judges' names were considered in the committee.
04:09By coincidence, they were nominated in the name of Justice Yahya Afridi.
04:13I will talk to the Minister of Justice, Azam Nazeer Tariq, in ARY News.
04:16He said that he tried his best to include the opposition.
04:19Justice Yahya Afridi was nominated in the name of Article 175A.
04:24There are two major groups in the case.
04:26Sabrahi Hamid Khan is from the professional group.
04:29Hamid Khan is also a PTI member and a member of the Senate.
04:32He will give a statement according to Bukla's will.
04:34It will be up to him.
04:37We had a very good discussion.
04:40All three judges have said good things.
04:44You have to look for suitability.
04:46Because the Parliament has the power
04:50to nominate the Chief Justice of Pakistan
04:54from the first three judges.
04:56The Parliament has changed the law with two-thirds majority.
05:00It has given the special committee the power
05:02to consider three names from two-thirds majority.
05:09There will be in-camera proceedings.
05:11The committee has tried to include the opposition.
05:15The committee has nominated Justice Yahya Afridi
05:18from two-thirds majority
05:20in the name of Article 175A.
05:27This is today's decision.
05:29The opposition had boycotted.
05:31Only Kamran Murtaza has given his opinion.
05:35I am against the decision of the committee.
05:38The decision of the committee is that
05:40Justice Yahya Afridi has been nominated
05:43from two-thirds majority.
05:46This is a very wrong decision.
05:48Justice Yahya Afridi will not accept it.
05:51Let's talk to Senior Lawyer Hamid Khan's AIY News.
05:54This is a matter of Adliya and Vukla.
05:56Vukla will not compromise on seniority.
05:58This decision will harm Adliya.
06:01President of Islamabad High Court Bar,
06:03Riyasat Ali Azad says that
06:04the government has turned Adliya and Nizam against each other.
06:08These people want a controlled Adliya
06:10which is in favor of the government.
06:12Judges will always be in favor of the government.
06:15After this decision, Adliya will be united
06:17with the government.
06:18I think what will happen now
06:19will be very shocking for the government.
06:24This is a very wrong decision.
06:26The good judges will not be part of such injustice.
06:31This is a matter of Vukla and Judiciary.
06:34We are all together on this issue.
06:36We have been on the seniority principle
06:39since the last 75 years.
06:43This is why we do not accept this decision.
06:48If AIY is accepted,
06:51it will be a very historic wrong decision.
06:55They will have to become Chief Justice.
06:59They should not play in the hands of political parties.
07:06They should not create division in the court.
07:11Otherwise, the Supreme Court will be divided.
07:15They have turned the court and Nizam against each other.
07:19They want a controlled Adliya
07:22which is in favor of the government.
07:24They do not want to make decisions against the government.
07:27They do not want to upset the government.
07:29They want to evaluate the judges.
07:32Judges who will evaluate the judges
07:34are crazy to make decisions against them.
07:38Adliya will be united again.
07:42I think what will happen now
07:45will be very astonishing for the government.
07:49For the 26th Aayni Tarmim,
07:51our people voted on the gun point.
07:53Opposition leader Umar Ayub was accused.
07:55He said in the address of the National Assembly
07:57that the weapons were kept in the parliament.
08:00Mr. Speaker, you are the custodian of AIY.
08:02These are wrong traditions.
08:05Tariq-e-Insaf is on the rise.
08:07The PTI should not put the internal affairs
08:09in the hands of the parliament.
08:11The opposition leader Umar Ayub replied.
08:14He said that four groups are fighting in Tariq-e-Insaf.
08:17Mr. Gohar and Salman Akram Raja were asked
08:20why did you give the name of the parliamentary committee.
08:23Akhtar Mingal forced a press conference.
08:26Balochistan National Party Senator Qasim Ronjo
08:29repeated what was said in his press conference.
08:32He said in a video statement that
08:34Akhtar Mingal and other members of the party
08:36forced a press conference.
08:38I was forced to read what was written.
08:41I was not picked up.
08:43I was at home.
08:46Today, the head of the party and his workers,
08:52two or three MPs,
08:56took me to the Senate.
09:00They forced me to give a press conference.
09:03It was a total fabrication.
09:06It was a lie.
09:08These were the words of coercion.
09:12It was written that I was picked up from home.
09:21I was reading what was written in front of me.
09:28It was a total fabrication.
09:32I was at home for 15 days.
09:36I was not picked up from home.
09:42I strongly object to this.
09:47Pakistan Tariq-e-Insaf issued a show-cause notice to Munharib Araqeen.
09:51Zain Qureshi, Aslam Ghumman, Middad Ali Khan,
09:54and Riaz Fathiana were issued notices.
09:56The notice said that the government
09:58made plans to attack the freedom of the judiciary
10:00by introducing amendments.
10:02It issued instructions to its Senators and MNAs
10:04not to support the bill.
10:06The PTI Senators and MNAs were instructed
10:09not to vote for the amendment.
10:11Arkan was instructed to stay in a safe and private place.
10:14Arkan was instructed to follow the instructions of the PTI Senators and MNAs.
10:17He ignored the instructions and left the designated place.
10:21There are relevant evidences and statements.
10:23He was determined to disobey.
10:25In seven days, he was asked to announce
10:27that he was a Munharib.
10:29He opposed the instructions of the PTI Senators and MNAs.
10:31He was asked to leave the party.
10:33If he did not respond to the notice,
10:35further proceedings would be carried out without notice.
10:44Electricity prices in Pakistan have increased threefold.
10:47Electricity bills in some parts of Pakistan
10:49have increased even more than the rents of houses.
10:51Treasury Minister, Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb
10:53said in an interview to Bloomberg
10:55that the National Finance Pact is being presented
10:57with the provinces.
10:59Legislation on tax will be introduced
11:01in the Agricultural Department in January.
11:03Tax will be announced in the Agricultural Department
11:05from next year, July 1.
11:07China is actively negotiating
11:09on the reprofiling of electricity bills.
11:11It is expected that the reprofiling
11:13of electricity bills will be agreed upon.
11:15The IMF has also discussed
11:17the funding related to climate change.
11:19Taxes in the Pakistani economy
11:21are expected to reach up to 135%.
11:23In November, the State Bank
11:25can reduce interest rates further.
11:33U.S. Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs,
11:35Vidhan Patel,
11:37in a press conference on the release
11:39of Dr. Afia Siddiqui,
11:41said that Pakistan will not come
11:43between the U.S. and India.
11:45Dr. Afia Siddiqui's arrest
11:47will be discussed with the Justice Department.
11:49On the murder of the Sikh leader,
11:51Vidhan Patel said
11:53that the Indian Inquiry Committee
11:55had exchanged information
11:57with the Indian Inquiry Committee
11:59to advance the investigation.
12:01We believe that the Indian Inquiry Committee
12:03will continue its investigation.
12:05We expect further steps
12:07on the basis of last week's discussion.
12:09We want to see the results
12:11of this investigation.
12:13The U.S. will not be completely satisfied
12:15with the murderous plot.
12:39Media reports suggest that the United States
12:41has communicated to the Indian government
12:43that it seeks meaningful accountability
12:45regarding the alleged murder plot
12:47of a Sikh activist in New York.
12:49Will you confirm?
12:51There was valuable engagement
12:53with India's Inquiry Committee last week
12:55and information was exchanged
12:57between our two governments
12:59to further our respective investigations.
13:01We understand that the Indian Inquiry Committee
13:03will continue its investigation.
13:05We expect further steps
13:07on the basis of last week's discussion.
13:09We continue to expect
13:11and want to see accountability
13:13based on the results of that investigation
13:15and certainly the United States
13:17won't be fully satisfied
13:19until there is meaningful accountability
13:21resulting from that investigation.
13:23Beyond that, I'm just not going to address
13:25this in further detail
13:27given that this is an issue
13:29that is active
13:31and remains under investigation
13:33by the Indian Inquiry Committee.
13:35and remains under investigation
13:37by the Indian Inquiry Committee.
