00:00Okay, and Leah, I know you've launched the Heart Warriors campaign to get some defibrillators
00:04installed in the local area, so why were you so keen to get involved in this campaign?
00:09Well, initially Lisa contacted us all and started the ball rolling with Heart Warriors.
00:19She lost her mum at Australia Tower, I lost my dad who collapsed on the street, and Gemma
00:25lost her mum as well. So we got together and decided to raise money for heart defibrillators
00:31that could have made a difference and saved our parents' lives. Like anyone out there,
00:37we want to put these in local areas so if anyone that you love or know or a member of
00:43your family can literally, if they collapse with a heart attack or heart problems, you'll
00:48know where the defibrillator is, you can access it, it's self explanatory, and you can save
00:54their life and not go through what we have.
00:58And what fundraising have you done so far?
01:00So far we've did a bike park at V&M's in Pallion, we did the Teesside Three Peaks where 17 busk
01:10climbed Roseby Chobham, Captain Cook's and Highcliffe NAB, and we were also rewarded
01:18at the end with a nice little buffet courtesy of my friend Leanne Stevenson. And we have
01:25a fantastic charity night which is at the Lakeside Club, which is just over there, on
01:33the 1st of November where we have some fantastic raffle prizes, bingo, and a live singer, Louis
01:41Simpson Music, will be playing as well.
01:44And how much are you looking to raise in total to get these defibrillators?
01:46We're raising up to £10,000 because we don't just want to get them at the tower blocks
01:53at the Lakeside Village, I want to get one down at Hendon Valley Library for my dad,
01:58we want to get one next to Morrison's for Gemma's mum, where she was from. We're all
02:05putting them in the name and honour of our parents as well. We are looking to put them
02:09in other tower blocks where we've got people over 40s in tower blocks, high risk of heart
02:16disease, but as you know anybody can drop down with a heart attack or heart problem
02:21from young ages. And also down the east end of Sunderland and over the water on the north
02:27side, but all in all we want to get them all over Sunderland and we want to save a life.
02:33We want to bring awareness and education because I feel like that's not enough at the moment
02:40for people, so it needs to be highlighted.
