00:00You could look at me now, I look like I've got hair.
00:02I haven't got hair.
00:03This is me.
00:04This is my image.
00:05I'm bold.
00:06I'm unique.
00:07This is who I am now, and you should always
00:09accept who you are.
00:12My name's Aurelina Jackson.
00:14I'm 29 years old, and I did Series 6 of X on the Beach
00:18in 2017.
00:19Now, I'm totally hairless and embracing the fact
00:22that I'm a bold 29-year-old girl on social media.
00:26I basically noticed a bald patch in front of my hair.
00:29It was really strange, because I've never had any hair loss.
00:31So obviously, for me, it was quite a panic.
00:34And then a week after that, my hair just literally just fell.
00:38I'd wake up, and there'd be hair on the pillow.
00:40I'd have a shower, and it'd be falling down my legs.
00:42I lost all of my hair in literally six weeks.
00:45Hair on my head, face, body.
00:47This came on for absolutely no reason.
00:50I still, to this day, don't know why it's happened.
00:52Unfortunately, with it being a cosmetic thing,
00:55it's more overlooked by the doctors, sadly.
00:57My whole identity was being stripped from me.
01:00It sounds crazy, but you don't actually realize
01:03how much hair can impact your facial features.
01:06My eyelashes, when they went, that was horrific.
01:08I went into a very bad state of depression.
01:11It massively affected how I felt around my boyfriend.
01:14He was very reassured and didn't leave me.
01:16But obviously, it's a very feminine quality to have as a woman.
01:21The hair fall was worse than the actual balding
01:24at the end of my journey.
01:26So in a way, when I decided to embrace the shave,
01:29it was actually quite a weight lifted off my shoulders
01:32because I knew it was inevitable.
01:34I knew it was something I had to accept.
01:36And at the same time, it was just so nice to know
01:39that I didn't have any more hair to fall out.
01:42It was like a coping mechanism for me
01:44to almost own what was going on,
01:46accept what was going on, and not have it as a secret,
01:50which would have ultimately made it a bigger deal
01:53than what it is.
01:54And then when I actually posted my first image bald,
01:57it was crazy.
01:58Like, I got so many messages from people reaching out
02:00with alopecia themselves or with chemotherapy and cancer,
02:04you know, suffering hair loss too.
02:06But it was really empowering.
02:09I've gone from being an influencer with fashion
02:12to now influencing being yourself
02:14and being confident and comfortable in your own skin.
02:16For me, waking up and going,
02:18oh God, you know, I need to shave my legs.
02:20Oh, no, I don't.
02:21Or going, oh, I'm going to go on the cross-trainer today.
02:24No, I won't need to wash my hair.
02:26You know, it's fantastic.
02:27I can just shove a wig on, shove a hat on.
02:29I don't even need to stick the wig down.
02:30Like, this isn't even stuck down.
02:32I can wear different wigs all the time.
02:34I can have a different identity all the time.
02:36I can be anyone I want.
02:37So I've actually lost one identity but gained a thousand.
02:41You could look at me now.
02:42I don't even look like...
02:43I look like I've got hair.
02:44I've got my eyebrows, I've got hair.
02:45The truth is, you know, I haven't got hair.
02:48This is me.
02:49This is my image.
02:50I'm bald.
02:51I'm unique.
02:52And, you know, I do own my look.
02:54Like, this is who I am now.
02:56And you should always accept who you are.
02:58Love yourself.
02:59And don't let anyone else ever put you down.
