00:00Coach of the year, I think JJ Redick makes a lot of sense.

00:24First of all, the narrative can work for or against,
00:28but there is no coach who will be talked about
00:30more this season than JJ Redick.
00:32So like if the Lakers are bad,
00:33obviously he's going to get crushed.
00:35But if the Lakers are good,
00:37don't you think that JJ Redick might end up getting
00:38maybe even more credit than he deserves?
00:41Probably, right?
00:43I think the fact that JJ Redick
00:45has proven to be such an analytical guy
00:47is going to see that crop of voters really love him.
00:51Where if he can juice up this team's shot profile, right?
00:55Get him shooting more threes,
00:57you're going to see an appreciation for that.
00:59It might be a little bit easier for some of the voters

01:04that are coming with JJ Redick taking over for Darvin Ham,
01:08who was a really bad coach.
01:10And then where you look at it, Darvin Ham,
01:12it wasn't even just like the in-game stuff with Darvin Ham.

01:16that really jumped off the page to me,
01:18where like, I don't really understand
01:21what was going through Darvin Ham's mind.
01:23The team that went to the Western Conference Finals,
01:27which again, didn't happen that long ago,
01:28it was two seasons ago,
01:30saw Rui Hachimora be a huge part of it.
01:33Well, Rui Hachimora spent half the season
01:34coming off of the bench.
01:36When the Lakers started LeBron and Rui together,
01:3830 game sample size, 21 and nine,
01:41that's a 57 and a half win pace over 82 games.
01:44Now, they're not going to play 82 games together,
01:47but it gives you the idea.
01:48Let's go a step further.
01:50Simplest fix in the book, JJ's already made it.
01:52And this is where you guys got to ask yourself again,
01:55did Darvin Ham, was he even allowed at practice?
01:57I don't understand what was going on here.
01:59Rui started 39 games.
02:02The Lakers went 26 and 13 in those games.
02:04That is a 54.7 win pace.
02:07Literally all you had to do was start Rui Hachimora
02:10and the Lakers would have had
02:10probably an additional four wins.
02:14So they won 47 last year.
02:17I think that JJ Redick can come in
02:19and get them to 50 plus wins.
02:22Sometimes a coach of the year needs like 60 wins,
02:24this, that, and the third.
02:26I don't think JJ needs all that.
02:27With all the eyes that'll be on him,
02:30I think it works in his favor.
02:31And I know there are people who are like,
02:32well, what happens when there's injuries for the Lakers?
02:34Again, JJ will get credit for that.
02:36Oh man, he missed LeBron for this amount of time.
02:39I know there will be some people who will tear JJ down.
02:42I think there's going to be an abundance of,
02:45if they're good, I think he's going to get a lot of credit.

02:51And a 25 to one, I think he's worth a look.
02:54As I said, Budenholzer, if he gets the suns
02:57to shoot a ton of threes, makes sense.
