00:00Next week, I'll be presenting this new government's first budget to deliver on our promise of change.
00:06I'm going to be honest about the scale of the challenge that we inherited. A decade of sluggish economic growth,
00:13deteriorating public services, and a 22 billion pound black hole in the public finances.
00:19But we must not be held back by the past and instead we should look to the opportunities of the future.
00:24That's why the budget next week will fix the foundation so that we can deliver that change.
00:29No return to austerity, but a credible, honest plan for the future.
00:34We will protect working people and we will begin to fix our public services, particularly our NHS,
00:41so people get the treatment that they need when they need it.
00:44And we will invest in our country's future so we can rebuild Britain and give this country its hope back.
00:51I've never been more optimistic about our country's fortunes and the prize on offer to us is immense.
00:57The budget next week will start a new chapter towards making Britain better off, more pounds in people's pockets,
01:04an NHS that is there for you when you need it, and
01:07businesses creating wealth and opportunity for all. It is a budget that will invest in Britain's future,
01:13so alongside business we can build the homes, the infrastructure, the roads and the railways that our country needs.
01:20The future has never had so much potential. It now falls on all of us to seize it.
01:26Together.
