00:00Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will not be seeking another term, and that might be why he is now turning his back on Donald Trump in the 11th hour before the 2024 election.
00:09In his upcoming biography, he says that the MAGA movement is completely wrong and would be unrecognizable to the party's idol, Ronald Reagan.
00:17He adds that Donald Trump is the reason for this deterioration of the GOP at large, saying that he has done a lot of damage to our party's image and our ability to compete.
00:26McConnell took particular aim at Trump's post-2020 election behaviors, with biographer Michael Tackett even reporting that McConnell nearly voted to impeach him after January 6th, with the Kentucky senator saying,
00:38I'm not at all conflicted about whether what the president did is an impeachable offense. I think it is.
00:43Urging an insurrection and people attacking the Capitol as a direct result is about as close to an impeachable offense as you can imagine, with the possible exception of maybe being an agent for another country.
00:53Calling the January 6th rioters who stormed the offices of Congress people a shocking occurrence and further evidence of Donald Trump's complete unfitness for office.
01:02The biography also recounts McConnell calling Trump a sleazeball and a narcissist, adding that the current GOP candidate is not very smart, irascible, nasty, just about every quality you would not want somebody to have.
