As we brace ourselves for the arrival of Cyclone Dana, we delve into the incredible power of nature and the storms that test our resilience. From the devastating impacts of Cyclone Tauktae and Amphan to the catastrophic fury of Typhoon Haiyan, we explore how cyclones and typhoons shape the lives of millions.

00:00The cyclone Dana has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm in last midnight
00:05and it is moving north-northwestward with the speed of 12 kilometer per hour
00:12during last six hours. As we brace ourselves for the impending arrival of
00:17cyclone Dana the whisperer of nature's fury remind us of the power that lies
00:23within our atmosphere with predictions of heavy rain and devastating winds
00:28communities along the coast of India are preparing for its impact. But cyclone
00:33Dana is not the first storm to test our resilience. In recent years India has
00:39faced a barrage of severe storm. For example cyclone Thokte in the year 2021
00:45made headlines causing widespread destruction across Gujarat, Kerala and
00:50Maharashtra leaving over 150 people dead and millions without electricity. Before
00:56that cyclone Amphan in the year 2020 made headlines tearing through the coast
01:01of West Bengal and Odisha displacing 13 million people and causing billions in
01:07damage. Cyclones the spinning giants of Indian and Pacific Oceans. But question
01:15is what exactly are cyclones? Picture yourself in the midst of a storm like the
01:20one shown in the movie The Perfect Storm. Cyclones are massive storms that form
01:26over warm ocean waters particularly in the Indian Ocean and South Pacific. They
01:32are born from warm moist air rising from the sea creating a low-pressure zone
01:36that draws the cooler air. This cycle results in a gigantic storm system
01:41capable of causing extensive devastation. Cyclones primarily affect regions in the
01:47South Asia, Southeast Asia and parts of Africa striking countries like India
01:52Bangladesh and Madagascar. Their destructive power is evident in
01:57flooding, storm surges and wind damage. Typhoons the Pacific's furious twins of
02:04cyclone. Now let's shift our focus to the Northwest Pacific and you will find a
02:10different name for similar storm. They are the typhoons. Just like in the movie
02:16The Day After Tomorrow these storms can unleash a torrent of rain and powerful
02:22winds wrecking havoc on coastal cities. Typhoons are formed under the same
02:27principles as a cyclone but are predominantly found in the Pacific. They
02:32strike East Asia affecting countries like Philippines, Japan and Taiwan often
02:37resulting in catastrophic consequences. One such disaster was Typhoon Haiyan in
02:43the year 2013 struck the Philippines leaving over 6,000 dead and millions
02:49displaced. It served as a real-time reminder of nature's fury. Tornadoes
02:55lands twisting demons. If you have seen the movie called Twister then you would
03:01know how destructive these whirlwinds can be or in simple terms tornadoes can
03:07be. Honestly they are yet another beast entirely. Unlike cyclones and typhoons
03:13which form over water, tornadoes occur over land often within the turmoil of
03:18thunderstorm. Tornadoes form when warm moist air meet cool and dry air creating
03:25a clash that results in spinning vortex. While smaller in scale than cyclones and
03:31typhoons, tornadoes possesses the fastest winds on the earth reaching up to 480
03:37kilometer per hour. Tornado alley in the United States is infamous for its
03:43frequent tornadoes but region in India particularly during the monsoon season
03:48can also experience these fierce storms. For instance the Joplin tornado in the
03:54year 2011 in the US became one of the deadliest in the history claiming 158
04:00lives and causing significant destructions. As we prepare for Cyclone
04:05Dana we are reminded once again of the unpredictability of nature. These storms
04:12be it the cyclones, typhoon and tornadoes may seem like villains from our favorite
04:17disaster movies but they remind us of our vulnerabilities yet alone inspire
04:23resilience. Communities come together to rebuild recover and emerge stronger. As we
04:30face the challenges posed by these forces understanding their nature and
04:35preparing ourselves can make all the differences. That's all in today's video
