00:00This video was recently captured in Armenia and what was supposed to be a simple wildlife release
00:05almost ended in disaster. Two-year-old brown bear Ricky Gervais, named after the famed comedian,
00:11was hit by a car just a couple of days ago. The animal was not badly injured but suffered from a
00:15lacerated lip and a minor leg injury. After being treated and given the okay by wildlife rescuers,
00:21they were then set to release the bear, which obviously didn't go according to plan.
00:25You can see several wildlife rescuers lift the creature out of the bed of the truck in a cage,
00:30a necessity considering even toddler brown bears can weigh hundreds of pounds, with adult males
00:35weighing up to 1,300 pounds. However, after most of the handlers get clear of the cage,
00:40one of them remains to lift the lid. When this happens, rather than running away as planned,
00:45the bear turns and attacks the wildlife rescuer. He uses the cage door as a shield before jumping
00:50into the bed of the truck as it speeds away. Luckily, the rescuer was able to maintain his
00:55balance as the vehicle began moving. Rescuers say this scenario was planned for, adding they
00:59had discussed an exit strategy just like this one before letting wild Ricky back into the wild.
