Russian President Vladimir Putin has sensationally claimed that the U.S. and the Eurozone manipulated global markets during the pandemic.
Speaking during his closing press conference of this year’s BRICS summit in Kazan, Putin said that the Western economies ‘printed money’, or expanded their money supply, in order to buy up global supplies of food, medical equipment and COVID vaccines - which have since passed their expiration dates and subsequently been ‘destroyed’.
Putin believes this to be the major cause of global inflation, rather than the ongoing war in Ukraine - which most mainstream economists think is the main driver.

00:36So they threw it all away, and food inflation began. Inflation in general, around the world.
00:44What did the world's leading economies do? They abused their exclusive position in the world finances, both dollars and euros, printed and washed away the most necessary goods from the market like a vacuum cleaner.
01:01They consume more, you consume more than you produce and earn. Is this fair? We believe not. And we want to change this situation. This is what we are doing at BRICS.
