00:00This was a crazy story yesterday.
00:02Did you see that Kauai's trainer is suing the Clippers for wrongful termination?
00:12He don't work for them.
00:14He, uh, well, well, he did, he did work for them and he got fired by the Clippers
00:20and he's suing for wrongful termination.
00:23Um, it says, uh, the story from Yahoo, a former trainer with the LA Clippers
00:28is suing for wrongful termination, claiming he was dismissed for raising
00:30concerns over treatment of Kauai.
00:33Leonard was receiving for his injuries.
00:35Randy Shelton is claiming in a lawsuit that he was fired for complaining.
00:38Kauai was being subjected to unsafe and illegal treatments
00:42for injuries reports.
00:44Chris Haynes, the Clippers responded, disputing the claim to say, Mr.
00:48Shelton's claims were investigated and found to be without merit.
00:51We honored Mr.
00:52Shelton's employment contract, paid him in full.
00:54The lawsuit is a belated attempt to shake down the Clippers based on
00:57accusations that Mr.
00:58Shelton knows are false.
01:03Shelton says he was hired in the Clippers in part to recruit
01:06Leonard as a free agent.
01:07His relationship with Leonard goes back when he was the strength and
01:09conditioning coach at San Diego state.
01:12Man, I wonder what they were putting in Kauai Leonard.
01:14What does he claim?
01:16Oh, like you bone on bone, bone on bone.
01:21Like there, there is no treatment.
01:23So I don't like, yeah, I don't know, man, I don't know, just Kauai doesn't play.
01:29And not only that, they extended him, keep extended him says the, uh, the
01:36lawsuit says simply put the recovery timetable is unacceptable to the Clippers.
01:39Leonard eventually sat out 2021, 2022 while recovering upon returning.
01:43The Clippers agreed to a load management plan that would limit Leonard's minutes
01:47to keep him from playing back-to-back games with the lawsuit claims that
01:49However, Leonard, this is from the, I guess the lawsuit, however, Leonard was
01:53required to play significant minutes to begin the season and complained of
01:56swelling and inflammation in the knee.
01:58After the first two games on October 24th, 2022, an MRI revealed cartilage
02:02damage in his knee and Leonard was given by a biologics to band-aid the problem
02:07rather than allowing him the full time to heal.
02:11Leonard says he was hired in the Clippers in part to recruit Leonard as a free agent.
02:15His relationship with Leonard goes back when he was the strength and conditioning
02:18heal juicy, that like, again, when it becomes like the injuries are the
02:31injuries and when you don't treat them as such, you have problems like this.
02:37Right.
02:37And, and, and, and I, and I think if that is an issue, here's where it gets tricky.
02:46It's not like football where you sign a contract, you get banged up.
02:54They can come for you and get some of that money back or cut you or whatever.
02:59So you're, you're more, you're, you're, you're probably more likely to try
03:07to fight through it, basketball's guaranteed money.
03:11So I don't know why you would ever put a player in a position where he's
03:18going to miss an extended amount of time.
03:23What if, okay.
03:27Kawhi Leonard was with team USA, right?
03:30And all of a sudden gone, send them home.
03:35Now, all of a sudden he's being never practiced, reevaluated.
03:40Re-evaluating all the time.
03:43Maybe they're CYA.
03:44They knew this lawsuit was coming down the pipe and now they're being
03:47overly cautious with his injuries.
03:50Um, I don't know because even before they got Kawhi, he had the same
03:54problems, like this is not nothing new, right?
03:59This is, this is what I mean, got him from San Antonio to Toronto.
04:06You guys are adorable.
04:08What are we going to say?
04:09Two scoops of adorable.
04:11Why guys, the writing is on the wall.
04:15Let me take you back.
04:16Let's let's go back to, uh, whatever year it was, 2010.
04:21Probably the Olympics.
04:22These three stars met up, had a discussion.
04:27We all know what happened there.
04:29Fast forward to 2024, Eric Spolstra in prime position to have a
04:36conversation with old Kawhi.
04:38You know what he said?
04:40Make a stink, buddy.
04:41No, here's why.
04:43Here's here's why.
04:46Let me tell you why it would never happen.
04:50Let me tell you why it would never happen.
04:54I will be so disappointed in the Miami heat, knowing your injury
05:01situation, the last three years to then trade for somebody.
05:06Who's also going to be injured.
05:09Plus he just got an extension too.
05:11Right?
05:12Like that makes no sense.
05:14Of course he did.
05:15What do you realize what you're saying?
05:19Makes zero sense.
05:21Based on what this team has gone through the last
05:23theoretically, you're saying he makes a stink and then demands a trade to Miami.
05:29No, Jimmy Butler is traded for Kawhi Leonard.
05:33And I'm saying, what else do you think is going to happen?
05:37Cause that's the only man that he'll never demand a trade.
05:40The Clippers will be like, we're tired of this guy.
05:43Take him off the books.
05:45Anyone willing to get this guy will trade you and we'll throw in a PJ.
05:52And then if you throw in a PJ, I mean, PJ, does this make sense to you?
05:58I just want to get the hell out of here.
06:00I don't care how you attach it.
06:01You can rub it, twist it, flip it, saute it.
06:04I want out.
