Former Arsenal starlet Chido Obi-Martin scored a hat-trick just 14 minutes into his first start for Manchester United Under-18s on Saturday.

The highly-rated striker took just 16 seconds to open the scoring for United against Nottingham Forest, with further goals following in the fifth and 14th minutes.

Obi-Martin made his debut for United last weekend when he featured as a substitute against Sunderland.

The Denmark youth international was offered a scholarship contract by Arsenal but elected to turn it down in order to continue his development at United.

Against Forest, Obi-Martin demonstrated his composure in front of goal as well as his excellent positioning.

During his time at Arsenal, Obi-Martin scored a record-breaking 32 goals in just 20 appearances for the Gunners' Under-18 side. His return last season was the most ever scored by an Arsenal player at that level in a single campaign, beating the previous record held by Folarin Balogun.

In addition, Obi-Martin also featured for Arsenal at the Under-19 and Under-21 levels as well as training with the first team.

Last season Obi-Martin scored ten goals in one game for Arsenal Under-16s against Liverpool. He also hit seven goals for the Under-18s against Norwich and scored five against West Ham.

The tall forward had to wait over two months for his transfer to be ratified by the Premier League but is now ready to make a major impact at United.

He reportedly turned down the chance to earn more money abroad due to being convinced by United's project.

Obi-Martin, who was born in Glostrup, currently represents Denmark at Under-18 level, although he previously played for England Under-16s.
