00:00Bulgarians are voting in the seventh general election in just over three years as their
00:06country faces growing political instability that could encourage the rise of pro-Russian
00:11and far-right sentiment.
00:15Only two of the six general elections since 2021 have produced an elected government.
00:20However, they both collapsed after trying to introduce reforms and cut remnants of the
00:26country's reliance on Russia.
00:28The latest vote held in June produced no clear winner, and the seven factions elected
00:33were unable to put together a viable coalition.
00:37Observers suggest the coming vote will produce more of the same, with chances of an immediate
00:42end to the political stalemate low.
00:45Pollsters predict voter fatigue and disillusionment in the political system, but result in a low
00:50turnout and fragmented parliament where populist and pro-Russian groups could increase their
00:55representation.
