This game moved me to tears several times
Transcript
00:00Death and loss are never easy topics to broach in video games, but there's something so
00:04refreshing and uplifting about the way Closer the Distance does it.
00:08Set in the small fictional town of Yesterby, you follow the story of its residents in the
00:12wake of a tragic car accident and the sudden death of a teenage girl. It plays out much
00:17like The Sims, with you influencing the actions of different characters, but instead of being
00:21a sort of omnipotent figure controlling people, you're actually playing as Angela, the young
00:27girl who passed away.
00:28Using her ethereal ability, you watch over her loved ones and try to help them navigate
00:33their grief, by influencing them to fulfill their aspirations, goals, and wishes. It instills
00:38the idea that those who pass away live on through the people they leave behind, whether
00:43it be in their memories of Angela or through the actions they take because of the presence
00:47she had in their lives.
00:49Closer the Distance is perfect for anyone who's looking for a moving narrative experience
00:53with choices that matter and a Sims-like feel. It's brought me to tears multiple times,
