00:00Today, after the welcome in Pavali, I, along with Mrs. Nurul,
00:29CEO of Bernama, and Mr. Manan, who is the President of Media Tamil,
00:35we have made a visit to two families of former journalists,
00:41Mrs. Saraswati and Mr. Batu Malai.
00:45Both of them have served in the media industry for a long time,
00:49some more than 21 years, some up to 50 years,
00:53and now they can no longer work.
00:57Actually, in Pavali, Media Tamil has provided 16 names
01:03for the management of Tabung Kasih at Hawana,
01:09which is managed by Bernama.
01:13Today, we have completed two,
01:19and there are 14 more that will be managed by Bernama.
01:23There are 13 more that will be managed.
01:29Overall, Bernama, through Tabung Kasih at Hawana,
01:35has provided funding to 164 media workers,
01:43and the assistance that we have provided,
01:47to those who are in need of financial assistance,
01:53there are a few things that we will provide,
01:57especially for those who may need medical assistance,
02:03or from agencies such as the Ministry of Finance.
02:09I hope that with the little funding that has been provided today,
02:15it will continue to be provided by Bernama through Tabung Kasih at Hawana,
02:19so that the media workers who may not be so fortunate,
02:23who will be welcoming in Pavali,
02:26will be able to feel a little bit of joy and happiness
02:29in this important welcome.
02:31Any questions?
02:38There are 13 more names,
02:40and Bernama will help to manage them immediately.
02:44Overall, for the welcome in Pavali,
02:48the organisation has provided 16 names,
02:51so we will focus on these 16 names first.
02:59For Madam Sara Swati,
03:01she has informed her family,
03:04I see that they may need more help.
03:10So I have asked for additional information
03:13to be provided by the Ministry of Community Welfare
03:16and also by Pekeso.
03:19Because in 2018, she had a stroke,
03:24and when she recovered,
03:27she had a second stroke,
03:29and could no longer work.
03:31So there are a few things that I see
03:33that could be helped by Pekeso.
03:36This is one of the reasons why,
03:38overall, I have asked Bernama
03:42to make an effort with Pekeso
03:47for all stringers, part-timers,
03:50so that they have a social safety net.
03:56If anything happens,
03:58at least Pekeso can help.
04:00So this is our desire,
04:03to ensure that the media,
04:06in terms of charity,
04:07is always protected and protected,
04:09and we will continue to do our best to help.
