Energy poverty impacts millions of people across Europe. A number of regions are taking part in EU-funded schemes to help them rise out of it.
Transcript
00:00How do you define the concept of energy poverty?
00:15It is also given the circumstances that even many regions
00:19did not even have defined the concept of energy poverty.
00:22And that is important because if you do not incorporate that concept in your own regulations,
00:27it is very difficult to articulate strategies that help you fight against that problem.
00:31But basically, to understand it, energy poverty,
00:35a family or a person affected by energy poverty,
00:38is the one that cannot cope with the energy costs that housing causes.
00:44What is Poverty?
00:46Poverty is a European project where we have collaborated five regions.
00:52The last beneficiaries will be those vulnerable people from these five European regions,
00:58from France, Bulgaria, Lithuania and the United Kingdom,
01:02who also collaborated through the Energy Poverty Observatory together with Andalusia.
01:06What are the social projects?
01:09We have also learned that social projects are long-term projects
01:13that are not at all compatible with the deadlines of a European project.
01:17Another issue we learned was the educational component.
01:21Incorporating both schools and their parent associations
01:25within the energy community was fundamental
01:28to really give the impact that was wanted.
