00:00We told you. We told you Beyonce was coming out for Kamala Harris.
00:03We're just a little early.
00:04We're just a little early on the trigger, that's all.
00:07But yes, at long last, Beyonce did show up at a Kamala Harris rally in Houston.
00:15Makes sense, in her hometown.
00:16But she was there, as you saw Kelly Rowland also there.
00:19And this was Beyonce, who really, even though she has been clearly supporting Kamala Harris all along,
00:26her music has been the intro.
00:29Freedom has been the theme for the whole campaign.
00:32Right, but she finally stepped to the mic and had this to say about the candidate she's backing.
00:38H-Town, we are so happy to be standing here on this stage as proud country, Texas women,
00:52supporting and celebrating the one and only Vice President Kamala Harris.
01:01A woman who's been pushing for what this country really needs right now, unity.
01:07It's impossible not to feel the energy in this room, the positivity, the community, the humanity.
01:17So Beyonce was strong, but she had an opening act.
01:21And I was watching this live, and I was flabbergasted when I saw Kelly Rowland.
01:30You never thought of her as this sort of an orator.
01:33I mean, again, forget politics for a minute.
01:37Just somebody who is a stirring orator?
01:41I have not seen many people like Kelly.
01:44I'm telling you, you should watch.
01:47We're going to play a little bit, but you should watch the whole thing.
01:49The whole thing, yeah.
01:50It is unbelievable.
01:52This is a little bit of how she brought that house down.
01:56We are grabbing back the pen from those who are trying to write an American story
02:00that would deny the right for women to make our own decisions about our bodies.
02:10Houston, we are grabbing back the pen.
02:16When I was a little girl and I pledged allegiance to the United States of America,
02:24that meant something to me.
02:26That flag meant something to me.
02:29And today, that means grabbing that pen and casting my vote, as I already did two days ago,
02:35for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
02:38I mean, you just got to see the whole thing.
02:41That's what they call taking them to church.
02:43Yes.
02:44That's what she did.
02:46And I'm telling you, when you watch the whole thing, again, if we can, just forget politics.
02:53It was just so stirring when you just watch her style.
02:59I mean, it was just, I was unprepared for this.
03:03It was pretty amazing.
03:05And again, remember, she went before Beyonce, and I thought there was a little bit more,
03:10and this is not a knock on Beyonce, there was a little more substance,
03:13or at least how it was delivered, more power with what Kelly said.
03:18Interestingly, when Beyonce went up there, you couldn't hear most of what she was saying
03:22because everybody was screaming so loudly for her.
03:25It seemed like people were, were people not bummed that there was no performance, though?
03:29I don't think they were even expecting it.
03:31No, they did say there were some reports.
03:33We didn't say that.
03:34That wasn't us.
03:35That wasn't us.
03:36That wasn't us.
03:37But there were reports she was going to…
03:38See, we told you guys.
03:40Told you.
03:42Anyway, but it was, I'll tell you.
03:45The problem is, and you know, she did fine, but you've got to follow that.
03:50Right.
03:51You know, when the candidate comes out.
03:52The candidate comes out, and again, this is obviously a very friendly audience for her,
04:00and I don't think anyone thinks that Kamala Harris is going to win the state of Texas,
04:06but Democrats have been chipping away in Texas, and I think that's why you do this rally there, right?
04:11Well, they did it for two reasons.
04:13One was because the Senate race with Ted Cruz is hotly contested and very close,
04:17and they wanted to turn that because the Senate could write on that election.
04:22And the second thing is they want to land reproductive rights in a big way,
04:28and Texas has very restrictive laws.
04:32And by the way, Michelle Obama did that the next day in a really rousing speech as well.
04:39So I've got to say Kamala Harris is bringing out the big guns.
04:42Hey, this is Ty from New Jersey.
04:44So I think it's amazing that she was able to get them to support her, to show up at the rallies.
04:50She's going to generate a lot of votes.
04:52It's going to be big.
04:53I don't think they're going to win Texas.
04:54However, I think it's great that she got the support of them,
04:57and it's going to be great for her quest in becoming the president.
05:02We shall see how much it does.
05:04I mean, the other side of this is everyone says, well, you're not moving the needle
05:08because that's your base you're preaching to, and the same thing can be said at Donald Trump's rallies.
05:15You know, I haven't talked about this yet, but you and I have talked about this privately.
05:19There was a plan to do a huge performance in Washington, D.C. shortly before the election.
05:28It certainly looks now like that's not going to happen based on what we're hearing,
05:32but it was a plan where the dream was Taylor Swift and a bunch of other huge stars,
05:39and it never materialized, but that was something right around the time of the convention that was being worked on.
05:48It's just they couldn't land it.
