00:00We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri people, and pay respects to elders past and present.
00:06Their traditions of storytelling and knowledge sharing continue to inspire and enrich our school community.
00:17Welcome to the first ever episode of the Grammar Grapevine.
00:20I'm your host Chelsea, and this is your go-to podcast for staying updated,
00:25meeting new faces, and hearing their stories from around the Hunter Valley Grammar School community.
00:31Today, I'm joined by Flynn, who is actually our producer.
00:37I'm stoked to be here. I'm the podcast producer, so normally I'll not be on the screen.
00:43I'll be in the corner of the room, helping Chelsea run the interview from behind the scenes.
00:49The first episode, we kind of wanted everyone to get to know the podcast, why we started it.
00:54We're going to interview ourselves, like each other.
00:57So we started the first ever HBGS podcast, which is a little bit random.
01:01I know, it was quite random, it was.
01:02Saturday morning after breakfast.
01:04A winter Saturday morning after Parker.
01:06A cool winter's day.
01:07A crisp Saturday morning in the middle of winter in Maitland at the Whistler.
01:12And we were sitting down.
01:14And I said, I was just like, Flynn, you know what? We could make a really good podcast.
01:20I said 100%.
01:21Based off you and me as people, I think we have good personalities for a podcast.
01:26Who wouldn't want to listen to my voice all day?
01:28Exactly.
01:29Put together a proposal to show Mr Robinson, the head of senior school.
01:34And he absolutely loved our idea.
01:38And he talked to Miss Butterworth, all of the important people who all were very supportive of our idea.
01:45The teachers have been great, actually.
01:47So we've found ourselves with so much support.
01:50Everyone's offering their expertise.
01:53As of recording, we've done half of season one.
01:57It's going great.
01:58We're really excited for you guys to listen.
02:00We're really excited for you.
02:01Because this is the first episode.
02:02This is what people will hear.
02:04We're just hooking to season two now.
02:05I know.
02:06We're ready to go for next year.
02:08Okay, so basically term four will be season one.
02:11And then every season we've got new guests, new topics.
02:15We try to incorporate the whole school.
02:17ELC, junior school, senior school.
02:19Anyone who has a story to tell.
02:20If anyone actually has anything exciting, please email.
02:24Also any talented students to join the team with love.
02:27To help behind the scenes.
02:28Yeah.
02:29So if you're interested and you see Chelsea or I around, come talk to us.
02:32We don't bite.
02:33Or shoot us an email.
02:35And I guess the reason why we've done it.
02:38Obviously just a fun idea we both had.
02:41Also bring everyone together.
02:43But yeah, I think connection is a really big theme.
02:46I think like.
02:47Of the podcast.
02:48We want to build on the relationship between the senior school, the junior school, the ELC.
02:53Just because I feel like having such a large school community.
02:57We're so lucky.
02:58And I think it's important we look after it.
03:00Because like I said, not everyone gets that.
03:03As the host of the Grammar O'Clock.
03:04As the host.
03:05Who is Chelsea?
03:06I'm a Libra.
03:07I'm 16 years old.
03:09And I've been at Hunter Valley Grammar for.
03:11This is my third year now.
03:13So I came here in year eight.
03:14I do aerobics for the school.
03:16I've done netball for the school.
03:18Flynn, as the producer.
03:21What do you think are some things people should know about you?
03:24We're both in year 10.
03:25What star sign are you?
03:26Oh, I'm a Cancer.
03:28Thanks for asking.
03:29Explains a lot.
03:30I'm joking.
03:31I thought Cancer like really lovely emotional people.
03:35Says you're nurturing and loyal.
03:37I have drama a lot behind the scenes.
03:39As the backstage coordinator.
03:41I do that for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Puffs.
03:44Or slightly different roles.
03:46But pretty similar.
03:47How is it different?
03:48With Puffs, it was just the creative team.
03:50So it was like mainly props and costumes.
03:52And it was a lot smaller.
03:53And I was a lot more involved in actually doing the things.
03:56And then with Iwanka, we had a huge team.
04:00So I was kind of just helping out all of the team leaders from that.
04:04And working in between them.
04:05Which was me.
04:06Yeah, Chelsea also was the head of hair and makeup this year.
04:10How would you rate your experience?
04:12I met a lot of people.
04:13Drama people are so lovely.
04:15Anyways, back to the star signs.
04:16It says I'm extroverted.
04:19Have lots of charm and persuasion.
04:21Yeah, this is why you're the host.
04:24Because of your charm.
04:25Let's play two truths and a lie.
04:27Oh, yes.
04:28Okay, I'm going first.
04:29I'm going first.
04:30The first one is I got thrown off a horse in New Zealand.
04:34Second one is I've been to eight countries.
04:37And then the third one is my favourite colours.
04:43So there's two.
04:44Is pink and orange.
04:45The lie is the middle one.
04:47What was that?
04:48You haven't been to eight countries.
04:49How many have I been to?
04:50I don't know.
04:51Seven.
04:52Oh, I'm going to lie.
04:54I'm terrible at lying.
04:55Okay, I've sat in the same golf buggy that Chris Hemsworth has sat in.
05:00Number two, I rode the same horse as Billie Eilish has ridden.
05:05I don't know if that's right.
05:07Okay.
05:08And my third one is I have been to England.
05:13That's a lie.
05:15Nope.
05:16You got it wrong.
05:17Well, what's the lie?
05:18The lie is the middle one.
05:19No, because we're at school camp and I know you rode the same horse as Billie.
05:24No, it was Aiden.
05:25Oh, rat bags.
05:27I know.
05:28I was sad I didn't get that horse back.
05:29I was sad I didn't get that horse, but my horse was very pretty.
05:31Oh.
05:32So I wasn't that sad, actually.
05:33Yeah, I loved horse riding at camp.
05:35Oh, wasn't it great?
05:37So good.
05:38It really hurt.
05:39Yeah, your butt.
05:40It hurt your butt.
05:41You're like, gosh.
05:46Rat bags.
05:48I have a quiz.
05:49I'm going to quiz you on me.
05:50Rapid fire.
05:51What is my favorite leaf?
05:54What?
05:57Like when you eat.
05:58Like a green leaf.
05:59Oh, kale.
06:01Spinach.
06:02Spinach.
06:03What's my lucky number?
06:04Like my lucky slash favorite number.
06:07It's definitely seven.
06:08It's eight.
06:09Close.
06:10Oh, it's my life motto that I go by.
06:13YOLO?
06:14Everything happens for a reason.
06:16Oh, yeah.
06:17I believe in that wholeheartedly.
06:19What do you think mine is?
06:21I don't know.
06:22Happens.
06:23Happens to the best of us.
06:24What?
06:25You're right.
06:26Okay.
06:27That's fun.
06:28If something bad happens, I'm like, happens.
06:29Do you want to tell them how we met?
06:30Oh, yes.
06:31We met at a birthday party on the 13th.
06:33We met at a 13th birthday party.
06:35It was karaoke.
06:36It was great.
06:37A karaoke night.
06:38But then you weren't at the school.
06:39No, I wasn't.
06:40You moved the next year.
