In the southwest of China, there is a secluded village surrounded by mountains, where everyone lives long lives and follows their own customs. During the Qing Dynasty, the emperor named it “Changshou Town.” One day, an infectious disease suddenly breaks out, and local officials send a doctor to treat the villagers. Outside the village, he discovers an ailing cow. Upon entering the village, the usually kind-hearted villagers behave unusually; they not only refuse to help the cow, treating it like a plague, but also direct their anger at the doctor for meddling. The old village chief personally leads the town's doctor, midwife, carpenter, and elder clan members in a series of efforts to obstruct the doctor’s attempts to save the cow. Ultimately, the cow cannot be saved, and the doctor is unable to determine the cause of its sudden death. The villagers’ unwelcoming and uncooperative attitude frustrates the doctor. Just as he is about to leave, he accidentally discovers a secret hidden by the entire town on a cliff. With lingering doubts, the doctor decides to secretly investigate Changshou Town, and it is only when he encounters a boy that the truth behind the town's mysteries begins to unfold step by step.
