00:00When I heard you talk recently about the fact, you know, you haven't spoken to Jessie in a very long time.
00:04I think those situations are so tricky and we've probably all been through it, I certainly have,
00:08with a friendship where, unlike a romantic relationship where there's a sort of a language
00:14that we know works, we go, it's over, we've broken up, I'll probably never see you again,
00:19but like, if we bump into each other, we'll be civil about it, whatever. With a friendship,
00:24it, there is no language for that, it just sort of happens and it's all a bit,
00:31like the loose ends aren't tied up, it feels awkward maybe. I mean, when I've been through it,
00:37I've sort of obsessed about those situations and if you should rectify them or not, or just let
00:41them be and let there be space and I mean, there isn't a right or wrong, but how do you feel about
00:47that? I wrote a song about it and it's called Simple Is Different For You and it's about a
00:53friendship that I had that I no longer have anymore and I feel like I mentioned it in like,
00:58an interview and so many people reached out to me and they were like, why is it so like,
01:02it's not really spoken about. When you hear a heartbreak song, it's about a relationship or
01:06a significant other that's like, you've broken up, unbreak my heart, how am I going to live without
01:11you, blah blah blah. But when it's a friend, like you don't really hear about it that much in music,
01:15so I was like, I'm going to write something about it because it's just as heartbreaking,
01:19if not worse. When you've been in that person's life for years and they've had your back and
01:23you've been through highs, lows, everything, all these experiences and it's wild, it's a wild ride
01:27but you're in it together and then poof, they're gone. That is hard to deal with, like I struggled
01:33a lot with that and it was like, I don't know and I just think it's really sad but at the same time,
01:40these things sometimes happen and it does make you think like, oh, do we try and rectify the
01:45situation? Do we try this? Do I reach out? It doesn't feel like I should,
01:48I feel like I should just stay away. It's a really horrible dynamic to be in.
