00:00The following video explains the WRU National Hub Officers Programme.
00:06Active with at least two establishments in each local authority, the WRU Hub Programme partners with 100 establishments throughout Wales.
00:15Partner organisations vary from secondary schools, universities, colleges and ALN establishments.
00:22The programme also partners with various organisations from rugby clubs to regional foundations and local charitable organisations.
00:30The WRU Hub Programme aims to enable Welsh rugby to thrive, servicing 195 rugby clubs in some of the most diverse communities of Wales.
00:40We currently have 83 establishments working with the associated clubs to help support the retention of players through to youth rugby.
00:49The officers aim to support their local clubs, hubs and inclusion teams weekly, leading to over 5,000 engagements.
00:57The captive audience of these establishments is over 100,000 children and young people, aiming to service and increase the demand for rugby.
01:06The pupils will receive an enhanced rugby provision, ensuring boys and girls are given equal opportunities to participate in rugby.
01:14As a result, the programme aims to transition 3,500 boys and girls from the age of 6 to 18 into rugby clubs annually.
01:23Currently, the hub officers will also support the development of a workforce to support their delivery, targeting a group of students in each establishment, to support them as coaches and referees.
01:35Aiming to train over 1,500 students, we hope that over 50% of the workforce trained will be girls and over half of the students trained will be deployed by the officers.
01:46Officers will also engage with children with ALN and provide different rugby experiences for all, from wheelchair rugby to e-sports.
01:55In areas of deprivation and ethnically diverse communities of Wales, the programme aims to provide opportunities for one and all.
02:03During school holidays, the officers continue to deliver as part of the National Food and Fun Programme and the WRU FitFed Fun Camps.
02:11These programmes will provide over 21,000 participants the opportunity to engage in rugby.
02:18Additional programmes offered by the WRU are also promoted by hub officers, namely e-sports and Minecraft, and they provide classroom-based activities.
02:28Finally, the Welsh Reunion Hub Programme has partnered with the Open University to evidence the impact of the programme on individuals.
