00:00Donald Trump says that billionaire CEO Elon Musk would have a role in his administration if he's re-elected.

00:11According to Fortune, Musk has been promoting the idea of a so-called department of government deficiency,
00:16which would strip away regulations, including those on the self-driving cars
00:19he's trying to roll out through his company Tesla.
00:21Musk appeared at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally Sunday.
00:25How much do you think we can rip out of this wasted $6.5 trillion Harris-Biden budget?
00:34Well, I think we can do at least $2 trillion.

00:38According to the Congressional Budget Office,
00:39total discretionary spending controlled by Congress and the White House was $1.7 trillion in 2023.
00:45About half of that goes to the military.
00:47Assuming it was all eliminated, further savings would have to be achieved
00:50by cutting programs like Social Security and Medicare.
00:53Trump endorsed this plan at a rally in Atlanta on Monday.
00:57He wants to be a man that can cut costs, have you live even better.

01:04But I think he said $2 trillion.
