00:00Severe tropical storm Christine, internationally named Trami, caused at least 2.1 billion pesos worth of damage to agriculture and fisheries in the Bicol region as of Monday, October 28.
00:11The Agriculture Department says Camarines Sur incurred the highest losses, followed by Albay, Camarines Norte, Masbate, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes.
00:19The losses include damage to agricultural crops, livestock, and infrastructure, affecting more than 37,000 farmers and fishers.
00:26The agency adds, rice was the hardest-hit commodity, with approximately 33,000 hectares of rice fields across Bicol's provinces still submerged.
00:34As part of relief efforts, the National Food Authority in Bicol distributed an initial 2,600 bags of government rice to local governments in the region.
00:42An additional four truckloads of NFA rice were also delivered to the Camarines Sur provincial government for distribution to affected families.
