00:00I would like to mark the fact that this is the last time the Right Honourable Member
00:04for Richmond and North Allerton will appear at the Dispatch Box during PMQs. There's
00:08a bit more to do afterwards, but he has spoken at this Dispatch Box as Chancellor of the
00:13Exchequer, the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, and after today, we all look forward
00:19to his continued contributions from the right benches.
00:24We wish him and his family well in the future endeavours, and I say personally, thank you
00:36for a working relationship.
00:38The first British-Asian Prime Minister is a reminder that this is a country where people
00:45of every background can fulfil their dreams, and it makes us all proud to be British.
00:52Mr Speaker, as you've just referenced, as this is our last exchange across the Dispatch
00:56Boxes, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Leader of the Opposition for his
01:03service. Of course we've had political disagreements, ideological disagreements, we've argued
01:09at some length, but I want to thank him for his hard work, for his commitment, and for
01:17his decency in everything that he has done. I too wish him and his family the very best
01:23for whatever the future may hold for them.
01:25No Prime Minister looks forward to PMQs, but I always did like this pre-Budget one, because
01:30it was, for a change, nice not to be the main event and just the warm-up act. But as you
01:35said, Mr Speaker, today is my last appearance at PMQs, and I'm happy to confirm reports
01:41that I will now be spending more time in the greatest place on earth, where the scenery
01:45is worthy. The scenery is indeed worthy of a movie set, and everyone is a character.
01:52That's right, Mr Speaker, if anyone needs me, I will be in Yorkshire.
