00:00Speed with silence, the absence of vibration, the mysterious harnessing of great energy and a beautiful living organism of superb grace.
00:15Back in 1910, this was the original brief for a Rolls-Royce figurine.
00:20It would become the most desirable icon of all time, the spirit of ecstasy.
00:26Over a century later, these words inspired us to create Phantom Scintilla, a private collection that celebrates the spirit of ecstasy's timeless beauty and lasting legacy.
00:41Phantom Scintilla takes its name from the Latin word for spark.
00:45This refers to Claude Johnson's first flash of inspiration for a mascot, the Greek statue of winged victory of Samothrace, which he'd seen in the Louvre in Paris.
00:57It also captures the spirit of ecstasy's ethereal grace, something glimpsed only for a moment, but leaving a lasting impression.
01:07This is the essence of our design theme, capturing the wonder of the spirit of ecstasy's fleeting presence.
01:15Claude Johnson's original inspiration, the winged victory of Samothrace, is sculpted in Parian marble, which is known for its translucence, purity and luster.
01:26To visually manifest this connection, the spirit of ecstasy's figurine has been given a ceramic finish for the very first time.
01:36For the interior, we created an ethereal graphic inspired by the spirit of ecstasy's sense of expressive movement.
01:45The fluidity culminates in the bespoke gallery artwork entitled Celestial Pulse.
01:52The interplay of light and texture imbues the solid form with a sense of movement and fluidity.
02:00The coach doors and fabric seats feature a complex embroidery symbolizing the spirit of ecstasy's energy cocooning the occupants.
02:10Over 850,000 stitches create an uninterrupted graphic flowing through the cabin.
02:19For the rear seats, we've chosen a silver twill fabric named Motion Textile.
02:25Its subtle reflective sheen alludes to the spirit of ecstasy's billowing drapery.
02:31We wanted to create a single graphic that almost looks like a watercolor artwork. We call it Painting with Thread.
02:39On the coach doors, the graphic is completed with illuminated perforations.
02:44By night, the embroidery takes on a mesmerizing, luminescent sparkle and appears to glow from within.
02:52For the bespoke starlight headliner, we've developed an animated sequence inspired by the spirit of ecstasy's robes billowing in the breeze.
03:03Phantom Scintilla is limited to just 10 examples.
03:07Through these rare and exceptional motorcars, the spirit of ecstasy continues to inspire her timeless grace and ethereal beauty wherever she's seen, even if only for a moment.
03:21Thank you for watching!
