00:00Let's begin with our show today and talk a little bit about what happened last night in the Bronx where the Los Angeles Dodgers were helped out quite a bit by Freddie Freeman who homered yet again to start off this game yesterday, but it was pretty much all Yankees from their late game heroics from Anthony Volpe and company as the Yankees finally get an offensive performance that we've been waiting for all postseason 11 to 4 the final yesterday.
00:28Anthony Volpe ends up hitting a grand slam in this one.
00:32So down.
00:33Oh 3 the Yankees do come back and they do capture a victory.
00:37Although some controversy was had with a fan taking the ball out of Mookie Betts his glove in that game, which we'll get to a little bit later.
00:43Needless to say the focus now for the Yankees is one game at a time.
00:47Although after the game yesterday Volpe said he didn't remember a thing as soon as he hit that ball out.
00:53No, I think I pretty much blacked out as soon as I saw it go over the fence, but no, we just want to keep putting pressure on them.
01:01And I think everyone had confidence in everyone in the lineup that someone's going to get the big hit and we've been putting having such good at bats and putting such good swings on the ball that I mean, we just felt like it was only a matter of time.
01:14No, I mean, we were just prepared there.
01:17They did a bullpen game and there it's it's kind of tough to prepare for and their guys have really good stuff.
01:22But we just had so much confidence in everyone going in that we just couldn't wait to play.
01:29No, I mean, we're just going to play our game.
01:31We feel like if we do that and we play the way we know we're capable of playing.
01:37They can see a good team and they can do what they do and whatever they want to do.
01:41But like I said, we just have so much confidence in us that we play.
01:47If we play that way, we feel like we'll win.
01:50Meanwhile, on the side of the Dodgers, Dave Roberts down a couple of runs, had a choice.
01:54Push down the envelope a little bit.
01:56See if you could win or use some players that, you know, essentially that they haven't used all that much.
02:01And that included the guy who gave up the Grand Slam yesterday and Brent Honeywell.
02:04But after the game, Robert said he knew that the Yankees were not just going to completely lay down.
02:10And he found that out the hard way yesterday.
02:12I don't think anyone expected those guys to lay down.
02:15And we had some at bats that I thought could have been better.
02:20But we knew it was a bullpen game.
02:24And, you know, as far as outcomes to have, you know, six guys in your pen that are feeling good, rested.
02:32I feel good about that.
02:33And being up 3-1.
02:34Yeah.
02:35Yeah, I feel great.
02:36I feel great.
02:37It's about, you know, the guys that you have available.
02:41Some of those guys are, they're all rested.
02:44So we have guys that can do up-down.
02:46So where we're at with tomorrow, knowing there's an off day behind that, we're in a great spot with leverage relievers.
02:53No, no.
02:54I mean, I think that they beat us.
02:57Volpe took a good swing.
02:59They took advantage of a couple free passes.
03:02They tacked on later.
03:04I do think that at bat-wise, I think we could have done some things to get in their pen a little bit earlier.
03:12But, again, at the end of the day, we're still in a pretty good spot.
03:16And we feel good.
03:17We'll be ready to go tomorrow.
03:19And the Yankees tonight will have Garrett Cole on the mound to see if they can extend the series even further,
03:23although Jack Flaherty's done a nice job for the Dodgers.
03:26Yankees, smaller favorite tonight than they were last night, minus 136 on the money line.
03:30Total is 8, and the game begins at 8.08 Eastern.
03:34Meanwhile, a change at quarterback from the Indianapolis Colts.
03:36They draft Anthony Richardson a couple of seasons ago.
03:39Looks really good at the start of last season.
03:40Gets hurt.
03:41Did not look good this season.
03:43And so the ageless wonder Joe Flacco is back at center for the Colts.
03:46He will start this week.
03:48Not sure how long this will go for, but as the Colts push toward a potential playoff spot,
03:52Flacco will see if he can repeat the magic with the Colts that he had with the Browns last year.
03:57No magic in the cards for the Houston Texans wide receiver Stephan Diggs.
04:02They're without Nico Collins, and they'll be without Diggs for the remainder of the season.
04:06A torn ACL.
04:07They signed him in the offseason, or excuse me, made a trade with the Buffalo Bills to acquire him,
04:12which led some doubt on the side, by the way, of the Buffalo Bills at the time.
04:15They've been just fine.
04:17Diggs, all-pro wide receiver, going to miss the remainder of the season.
04:20And it is a big hit for the Texans, who now are without their two top targets for C.J. Stroud, said D'Amico Ryan.
04:27Really hurt.
04:29Hurts our team to hear that news.
04:32And he's been such an important part to our team.
04:35And just everything that he brought, not only on the field, but off the field, the energy, the leader,
04:40like the way he worked every single day.
04:43He brought a lot to our team, and we have to pick up the slack.
04:47A lot of guys have to step up, pick up the slack.
04:49But definitely praying for him to have a speedy, successful recovery.
04:55It's definitely a blow to us.
04:57Speaking to him, just like anyone would be, it's tough.
05:01Tough news to hear, especially how much he pours into it.
05:07That's one guy who gave his all to everything that we ever asked him to do.
05:12He's hurting, of course, and we're hurting for him as well.
05:18The NFL trade deadline coming up next week.
05:20We'll see if Houston adds a wide receiver.
05:22Meanwhile, the NBA's investigation into the health status of Joel Embiid has come to a close.
05:27He had been fined $100,000 for public statements around the health status of Embiid.
05:32The investigation showed that the Sixers did not violate player participation policy with Embiid's missed game,
05:37but did so with the public comments that did not reflect his health properly with his knee.
05:42The Chicago White Sox can't make it official until the World Series are over,
05:46but it looks like they have their new skipper, former outfielder Will Venable,
05:50who is the Texas Rangers associate manager, is going to be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox.
05:56ESPN reports this last night.
05:58As soon as the World Series is over, I'm sure they'll make this official.
06:01Prosecutors are right now reviewing a warrant request for Lions wide receiver Jamison Williams,
06:08who's already suspended because of PEDs.
06:10The office is reviewing a request on a concealed weapons charge.
06:14In a statement released Tuesday, the Detroit Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
06:19Williams, of course, was suspended for sports betting, now suspended for PEDs.
06:24But naturally, to say the least, Williams is supposed to be on the field starting next week.
06:29Trade in the NFL.
06:30Deontay Johnson signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers.
06:33He's been traded to the Baltimore Ravens.
06:35He joins a very talented squad with Zay Flowers and Rashad Bateman.
06:41Deontay Johnson, now a member of the Ravens,
06:43also the Vikings acquired left-tackle Cam Robinson after their left-tackle Christian Derusaw tore his ACL,
06:51and he's going to be out for the season.
06:53Quarterback change in Michigan.
06:54We've seen several of them this year.
06:56One of them was starting Jack Tuttle and then benching Jack Tuttle.
07:01Well, after seven years in college football, Tuttle has decided, after having a concussion a couple of weeks ago,
07:06that he is going to retire from college football.
07:09Last night in college football, meanwhile, Louisiana beat Texas State 23-17 on the road.
07:13Liberty tonight takes on Jacksonville State, their two-and-a-half-point favorites,
07:16and Kennesaw State, 24-and-a-half-point underdogs against Western Kentucky.
07:21Unfortunately, the injury saga for Alonzo Ball continues.
07:25He's back, and now he's gone.
07:27Chicago Bulls guard sprained his right wrist in the first quarter of Monday night's game,
07:33will be reevaluated in 10 days.
07:36Denver Nuggets beat the Nets 144-139 in overtime last night.
07:41Nikola Jokic, 29 points, 18 rebounds, 16 assists.
07:44The Mavs beat the Wolves 120-114.
07:46Kyrie Irving had 35 points in that one.
07:50And the Warriors, without Steph Curry, beat the Pelicans 124-106.
07:56Tonight in the NBA, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are back in Cleveland.
08:01The Lakers are four-and-a-half-point underdogs against the Cavs.
08:04The Boston Celtics are in Indiana, where they're six-and-a-half-point favorites over the Pacers.
08:10And the Knicks and Heat go at it tonight, a pick-up line.
08:13And out west, the Clippers are eight-and-a-half-point favorites against the Portland Trailblazers.
