00:00MVP! MVP! You'll hear that chanted quite a bit. And by the way, Dubsy, in the MVP market
00:10of the NFL, it's getting red hot because just last week it felt like, oh, it's Lamar Jackson.
00:17He's going to win this easily here. Five touchdown performance, looked absolutely sensational,
00:22only to get beat by the Cleveland Browns. And it wasn't his fault. But look at the odds
00:26market as it sits today. The new leader in the clubhouse, Josh Allen at a plus 270 price
00:32as the favorite. Lamar Jackson now at a plus 370 price. Patrick Mahomes at a five to one.
00:38Let's start one, two, three, because all three of these players all ready to start this season
00:43have been the leader in the clubhouse. Mahomes, Jackson, and Allen. Today, if you had to hand
00:48that award out on the stage, Dubs, who is getting your award for MVP so far of the NFL
00:54season?
00:55I'd hand it out to Lamar Jackson, but there'd be a caveat. There'd be an asterisk saying,
01:01just saying that there's too much football to be played in. He's got another MVP caliber
01:06player playing right alongside him. Derrick Henry. If Derrick Henry continues to have
01:10one of the best seasons we've seen at the running back position, that's going to hurt
01:13the stock for Lamar Jackson at plus 370. And I think that's the way it will play out the
01:18further we get into this year. For me, if I were to put this award on a pedestal, once
01:24it's all said and done looking into the future, and that's what we're trying to do, prognosticate
01:28and handicap here, I think it will be Josh Allen. I love the bills. I think they're built
01:32for success. He's put up some fantastic numbers to start the year, not electric numbers, but
01:37he's been playing very efficient football. And I love the fact that he's got the turnovers
01:42in the interceptions out of his game. He's playing with maturity. He's using the wheels
01:47and the feet only when he has to. And suddenly he's got all these wide receivers who are
01:51buying in, getting it downfield and not having that genuine one knockout punch. So I think
01:56this offense looks fantastic. Much part in thanks to Josh Allen. And it's a war, Donnie,
02:02that's obviously dominated by that quarterback position. But I look at it and say, what is
02:07this quarterback bringing to the table? What would this offense and team look like if you
02:11were to take this superstar out and just put, I hate to be that guy, but a Joe Flacco or
02:17a Richardson in that starting position, how much would they lose? And I think for the
02:21Bills, they'd lose everything. Josh Allen is that cornerstone. You look at a team like
02:25the Ravens with Lamar Jackson, would they really lose a lot not having him? Yes, but
02:30they'd still be the Baltimore Ravens and they'd still have one of the best rosters on paper.
02:33So Josh Allen is going to win it once it's all said and done. It was handed out going
02:38into week nine, Lamar Jackson. It's a Switzerland answer, Donnie.
02:43By the way, you look at major league baseball dubs, right? You have 162 games to separate
02:47yourself. You take a look at, let's just say the MVP in basketball, 82 games to separate
02:51yourself in the NFL. You only have 17 games, which is why on a week to week basis, we get
02:55so much turmoil here. One bad performance by Josh Allen. He's out of there. One lost
02:59to a team you weren't supposed to lose to for the Ravens. Lamar Jackson drops down.
03:03Patrick Wilhelmstein hasn't lost a football game, but he certainly hasn't been the catalyst
03:07per se for that team. But he sits at five to one. So I love to see how it's on a day
03:11to day basis. This changes here. But the guys on the outside looking in, let's go six to
03:15one and a little bit higher. Jerry Goff has been awesome for Detroit so far. He didn't
03:20throw for 100 yards over the weekend. They put a 50 plus points, which shows you the
03:23talent on that football team. Jaden Daniels now rocketing up that leaderboard to nine
03:28to one price here for Washington. If that late Hail Mary pushed them through where they
03:32might actually be the best team in the NFC East. CJ Stroud 13 to one loses another weapon
03:38at the wide receiver position. So many good players, even outside of Allen, Jackson and
03:43the Holmes. If we look at that second level, whether it's Goff, Daniels, Stroud, Hertz,
03:47Purdy, Joe Burrow, Jordan Love, who would get your attention there to try to crack into
03:51that top three eventually?
