00:00HUBFest is our annual celebration of the HUB programme. It celebrates the year that has
00:09just gone but also kickstarts into what is happening over the next 12 months in the programme.
00:17In the HUB programme at the moment, we're currently active in 95 establishments throughout
00:22Wales. That supports 160 plus rugby clubs, but also covers a few more schools through
00:31college establishments who work with partner schools. So we're probably between 100 and
00:37120 establishments active within the programme based on the catchment of some colleges and
00:43they support the local rugby clubs connected to those establishments.
00:48For me, the thing I like most about being a HUB officer is I get to work with a really
00:52wide variety of pupils. So I work with primary school ages and I've been lucky enough to
00:56work with the performance players up at RGC.
01:00So since I've started at Castle Island, my biggest achievement would be creating a year
01:04eight team. When they were brand new players, we made it to the bowl final and we actually
01:08ended up winning that. So it's been really nice to bring back a trophy to the school.
01:12And overall, I just think kind of instilling that desire for the girls to play rugby from
01:16year seven to nine. And hopefully they'll continue to do that in the next season.
01:20Getting to coach rugby every day, seeing loads of smiles on faces. I think that's the main
01:24part of my job. It's just getting to go out there, like being active rather than sit behind
01:28a desk. And it's just nice to get involved with all the kids. They're important because
01:31we're not often get to connect with other HUB officers from other regions because it's
01:35quite obviously, it's a big programme. So everyone getting together every year, connecting,
01:39sharing ideas, like-minded people. It really sets a good tone ready for the new academic year.
01:45The future of the HUB programme is exciting. Over the next 12 months, we'll continue to
01:50deliver against the WRU rugby strategy in the areas and the communities of Wales. During
01:57that period, we'll also be sharpening the tool to make sure it continues to align with
02:01the rugby strategy of the Welsh Rugby Union and the needs of the partner establishments.
02:08So we need to work hard to retain the HUB programme so it can continue to have the impact
02:14over the next 10 years.
