Japan's Mount Fuji snowless for longest time on record

Japan's Mount Fuji remained snowless as of Oct. 31, 2024 -- the latest date that its majestic slopes have been bare since records began 130 years ago, the weather agency has said. The volcano's snowcap begins forming on October 2 on average, and last year snow was first detected there on October 5. But because of warm weather, this year no snowfall has yet been observed on Japan's highest mountain.

00:36so yeah, it's quite shocking to see at this time of year, there's no snow
00:39and also it's very visual, the impact that the warming has had
00:43seeing like this
