00:00Bonfire night is an absolute family favourite, it's one of our favourites but the best thing
00:05about this having a well-organised event means people can enjoy themselves safely
00:12and in a controlled environment. Not only is it a safe environment to come and experience the
00:17fireworks but also what it does is it reduces the number of bonfires and other displays across
00:22Kingston and West Norfolk. This means that we don't commit so many resources to going to accidental
00:28fires, that means that our teams then are available to attend further 999 calls that
00:34are needed at this period of time. Forks in the Walks is a fantastic thing to have in Kings Lynn
00:38where else do you get to come to have a free fireworks event and there's lots and lots of
00:43people come out so what's really really important is that everyone behaves themselves. It seems like
00:50a really easy ask and the majority of people are going to come here and have a fantastic time
00:54but there are always those few who are intent on coming out and spoiling for the rest or come
00:58out and behave in a silly manner which means we have to intervene. We are here, we are here
01:03supporting the council, supporting the event to make sure everyone is safe and has a really really
01:07good time. The time when we will intervene is if there is a public safety issue or if people need
01:12to be dealt with for any anti-social behaviour issues that may be going on in the park or nearby.
01:16Our advice from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is to please attend a professionally run
01:21event such as Forks in the Walks. They're professionally organised and they have
01:28additional control measures to ensure that the event is run safely. Unfortunately last year for
01:35example we did have a firework that set fire to some patio furniture that then spread to a garage
01:42and then into a domestic property. Fortunately no one was hurt in this incident but it did cause a
01:47degree of damage and concern for the occupier of that home. So by coming to an organised event we
01:52minimise the risk to our communities within Norfolk. Fireworks here are fantastic. The things I would
01:57suggest are if you're coming with family with a group it's dark bring a torch it seems like a
02:02simple thing but bring a torch make sure you know who what your party look like and if it helps take
02:08a photograph of them in case they did get lost and have an agreed meeting point as well. Just in case
02:14you do get lost everyone can remember to go to this point and find each other and if all else
02:19fails find one of the officers who's around in a high-vis jacket or find one of the stewards here
02:23who's in a high-vis tabard and ask for help. They've got radios they've got people around that can help
02:28find you and reunite you with your loved ones. So everything kicks off at six o'clock. Fireworks
02:33display will be around eight o'clock and please make sure you stay behind for the entertainment
02:38afterwards.
