00:00Waterways are perhaps the oldest method of transportation, however, traveling by boat
00:08is also one of the slower forms today.
00:10Enter Candela's P-12 electric hydrofoil, which glides over the water, increasing its
00:15speed and reinvigorating waterway transport in the 21st century.
00:19The boat can fit some 25 passengers and includes space for wheelchairs, priority seating, and
00:24bikes, meaning this could revolutionize a cross-water trip for everyday commuters.
00:29The company's founder and CEO Gustav Hasselskog says that one of the biggest hurdles with
00:33passenger ferries today comes down to time and money.
00:36They're too slow to be appealing to commuters and use way too much costly fuel, but this
00:41passenger hydrofoil solves both of those problems.
00:45And with the technology we use, which is hydrofoils combined with electric dry train, we reduce
00:50the energy consumption with 75%.
00:52Yeah, so this trip takes normally something around 50 minutes, and we can do that in 25
00:59minutes, so we halve the commuting time.
01:01And since it glides above the water, even at those high speeds, it does not create a
01:05wake, meaning it can operate at higher speeds in waterways where it would normally have
01:09to move much more slowly.
