00:00The one other name I do want to mention,
00:01talking about possible guys moving,
00:04is I do think there's some actual truth to the Jon Jones
00:09stuff.
00:10I don't think that name just got thrown out there
00:11for the hell of it, because we looked at it and said,
00:13oh, he's 30, and he's in the last year of his contract.
00:16And I think there are teams that are generally interested in him
00:19and genuinely interested in him.
00:21And that'll be, that's a tough one for me, because I think.
00:24At what cost?
00:25What would the return have to be?
00:29I mean, I guess I would move him for no less than a fourth.
00:33Same.
00:34But even then, I'm still a little,
00:37and I'm not saying that at this point of his career,
00:39that wouldn't be a smart business move.
00:42But in terms of what he brings to the locker room,
00:44and even this past weekend, where
00:46he's dealing with the shoulder, but Duggar can't go,
00:49and you find that out officially 90 minutes before the game,
00:51or two hours whenever he had his workout,
00:53and they decided he couldn't go.
00:55And then Jon Jones is playing from safety.
00:58And they'd like to cross-train their guys,
01:00but there are very few guys that can go do that as fluidly
01:02as he can and make the right plays when he's doing it.
01:06And so between that versatility and then the leadership,
01:09you know, you saw him as the guy who broke the team down
01:12after the win, you know, with Juwan Bentley being out.
01:14Like, I feel like that locker room is a little rudderless.
01:17There's a lot of young guys.
01:19And having someone like him, who is
01:21one of the last remaining ties to great success here,
01:26there's some value in just keeping him and just saying,
01:28you know what, yeah, maybe a fifth rounder would still
01:31be good value for him, but we can't do that.
01:33We shouldn't do that.
01:34We need him to keep teaching the young guys how to be pros,
01:37because that's been a problem for them.
01:39It's for all those reasons and more, the leadership,
01:42the quality of character, the positional versatility,
01:44the fact that he plays at a reasonably high level
01:46on the inside and the out, as well as safety,
01:49and what he can teach these guys, Mike, that makes me think,
01:51as badly as they may want that fourth from, let's say,
01:54I don't know, San Francisco, if they were to call,
01:55because they've got secondary issues,
01:57like so many other teams do, I just
01:59can't see moving on from them at this point,
02:01even if you would net another pick.
02:04You've already got an extra three and a six.
02:06There'll be compensatory picks.
02:07The Patriots will be loaded up adequately next year.
02:09Why wouldn't you want to keep a guy like him around?
02:11You've got $140 million.
02:13You could afford another two- or three-year deal
02:15for Jonathan Jones, as well.
02:18So I'm with you.
