00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best Disney songs that'll
00:09bring you a little energy when you're in need of a pick-me-up. We'll be restricting the list
00:14to animated flicks only, so as much as we love high school musical numbers, they won't be on the list.
00:1920. Try Everything – Zootopia
00:32It's unexpected how well Shakira fits right into this world of anthropomorphic animals.
00:44Her character, Gazelle, makes her mark several times throughout the film,
00:47urging Zootopia's population to band together, or otherwise providing a little comedic relief.
00:52Wow, you are one hot dancer. Cheap bucko.
00:58Her song is heard at the beginning of the movie when Judy makes her way to the city.
01:02It's the perfect hopeful and uplifting tune to
01:04track the character as she finally follows her lifelong dream.
01:13By the time the song comes back around to close out the story,
01:17we're left just as inspired as we were at the beginning.
01:2019. I Wanna Be Like You – The Jungle Book
01:24We're not quite sure why Louis wants to become human so badly since he seems to have quite the
01:28sweet setup with his own little kingdom, but we can't really stay mad at him since his ambition
01:33gave birth to this track. Quite fittingly, this jungle VIP not only has a knack for swinging
01:44through trees, he's also quite a swinger himself. With its jazzy edge and scat-tastic sequence,
02:01this song, sung by music legends Louis Prima and Phil Harris,
02:04is bound to put more bounce in your step and make you feel like royalty yourself.
02:14Though we don't recommend trying to randomly make man's red fire.
02:2218. Eye to Eye – A Goofy Movie
02:26Stand Out was also a contender for this list,
02:34but we couldn't ignore the song that sounds like a combo of Prince and Michael Jackson,
02:38all rolled together with none other than Goofy Goof added to the mix.
02:45Not only does the track serve as a fitting climax to Goofy and Max's struggle with what it means to
02:50be a father and son, it does so with a pop style that immediately throws you back to the classic
02:5680s Disney tunes. Whether you gel with the message about parenthood or just love the nostalgia bombs,
03:09this pump-up track is a hidden gem that truly is the best kind of goofy.
03:1417. Son of Man – Tarzan
03:17Nothing like a bit of Phil Collins to transform you from a timid child into a big strong man
03:22and capable jungle dweller who feels more at home among the apes.
03:37Just as Tarzan vows to make his adopted mother proud and become the best ape he can be,
03:42the rigorous yet positive message of this song can't help but motivate you to become the best
03:46that you can be. While some of us may never get as ripped as Tarzan, this action-packed
03:51track serves as inspiration for any endeavor we choose to take up. Whether it's something
04:02casual or we feel like battling a leopard, hopefully the lingering sound of Phil Collins'
04:07vocals will help you see it through.
04:1016. Surface Pressure – Encanto
04:13This is an older sibling anthem for sure, but more than that, it's just a banger.
04:18Your eye's doing the thing.
04:20I'm the strong one, I'm not nervous, I'm as tough as the crust of the earth is.
04:25Surface Pressure is Luisa addressing all the burdens she carries, especially those her
04:30physical strength can't help her with. The irony, of course, is that it's actually a great song to
04:34help de-stress. It's a solid workout track for one, and for another. If you can belt along the
04:40lyrics with Jessica Darrow, you'll feel the ultimate catharsis.
04:43You gotta tip, tip, tip till you just go pop, whoa-oh-oh.
04:49Give it to your sister, your sister's older. Give her all the heavy things we can't shoulder.
04:54With Luisa in mind, Surface Pressure makes us want to go extra hard every time we hear it.
04:59In the Encanto roster, What Else Can I Do is also great for remembering your own power.
05:05What else can I do? There's something you can't do. What else can I do?
05:12Number 15. Friend Like Me, Aladdin
05:15I've got a powerful eye to help you out, so what you wish I really wanna know.
05:20You got a list that's three miles long, no doubt, well all you gotta do is rub like so.
05:24Pretty much anything involving Genie is going to be high-energy, song or otherwise,
05:29and Friend Like Me is no exception. Robin Williams works his signature magic in the role,
05:34with this introductory song showcasing everything from a flair for the dramatic
05:38to some super fun impressions. I'll say all you gotta do is rub that lamp.
05:42And I'll say, Mr. Aladdin, sir, what will your pleasure be?
05:47Let me take your order, I'll jot it down. You ain't never had a friend like me.
05:52There's a whole orchestra of instruments used, which gives the song a dynamic and
05:56polished quality that is particularly pleasant on the ears.
05:59As I'm a column A, try all of column B.
06:03Whether you're listening to the Will Smith version, Williams' original,
06:07or even James Monroe Iglehart in the musical adaptation, you're guaranteed a good time.
06:13Number 14. Dig a Little Deeper, The Princess and the Frog
06:17There is no shortage of invigorating bops in this movie.
06:20If no-nonsense motivation is what you seek, look no further than almost there.
06:25But I've climbed a mountain, I've crossed a river, and I'm almost there.
06:30If it's a poppy, uplifting dance number, may we suggest Down in New Orleans?
06:34Let the money come on down, bring your pay drops, we bring the town.
06:41Now, if it's both, you're in luck, because Dig a Little Deeper has got it all.
06:45Sung by Mama Odie, we're reminded that, sidetracked as we may get,
06:49we can always find out what we really need by, well, digging deep.
06:53Ain't froggy, he's a rich little boy, don't wanna be rich again.
06:58That ain't gonna make you happy now.
07:00The gospel number is full of spirit, much like Mama Odie herself,
07:04and feels like a warm hug when we get a little lost in life.
07:12Number 13. Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride, Lilo & Stitch
07:17I might not be a doctor, but I know that there's no better cure for a sour face
07:22than a couple of boards and some choice waves.
07:24Name a better summertime anthem. We'll wait.
07:27Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride totally calls to mind all things tropical beach-themed,
07:31even if you're not necessarily associating it with the surfing sequence in Lilo & Stitch.
07:36There's no place I'd rather be.
07:40Just one listen is enough to unwind, as the song seems to pump pure happiness
07:44straight into the bloodstream with its captivating rhythm and breezy ambiance.
07:48Just as the surf break helps Nani and Lilo through their bad day,
07:52this song is sure to do the same for you.
07:54If ever you get the chance to vacation in Hawaii, don't forget to add this one to the playlist.
08:05Number 12. Be Our Guest, Beauty and the Beast
08:08Be our guest, be our guest, put our service to the test.
08:16Tie your napkin round your neck, sherry, and we provide the rest.
08:20Why yes, we shall be your guest, as long as you have this timeless song playing while we dine.
08:25Amid all the horror and sadness Belle initially goes through during her stay at the Beast's
08:30Castle, this huge Broadway-inspired number not only provokes a much-needed break,
08:34but also rouses the spirit of everyone who listens.
08:47As Lumiere lists off the wonderful services he and his colleagues provide as hosts,
08:54this track not only uplifts,
08:56it also gets you in the mood to go out to a banquet or participate in a kickline.
09:09Hey, who doesn't love a meal and a show? Especially when the meal is the show.
09:14Number 11. Let It Go, Frozen
09:18Well now they know, let it go, let it go, can't hold you back anymore.
09:28We know, we know, you've heard this song a million times, but you can't deny that it
09:32encapsulates everything that makes Elsa and the film as a whole so charming. Just as the Snow
09:38Queen of Arendelle breaks away from the shackles of her own life and lets her ice powers run free,
09:42this song also inspires listeners to toss aside whatever burdens might be weighing them down
09:47and seize the day. Whether the deeper meaning of the song hits an emotional chord or you just
10:02happen to really love Idina Menzel's voice, feel free to let go of any inhibitions and
10:07turn up the volume on this one. Number 10. You're Welcome, Moana
10:25The rock absolutely makes this song. Of course, the fast-paced tempo does a lot to liven things
10:30up, but it's the energy and passion Dwayne Johnson puts into his delivery that really sells it.
10:37Maui obviously has quite the ego, but it's not without reason. He did lasso the sun.
10:47In You're Welcome, the demigod lists off every philanthropic deed he's done for human beings,
10:52jumping right to acknowledgment before anyone can even utter a thank you.
10:56We'll forgive the hubris here, since it's packaged in such a fun and catchy theme.
11:07Number 9. Strangers Like Me, Tarzan
11:15No one's arguing that the Tarzan soundtrack is elite, but there's something really special
11:19about Strangers Like Me. It's more than a good jam, it's downright moving.
11:24Show me everything, tell me how You don't need something and yet nothing to read
11:32As Tarzan and Jane come to know about one another on a deeper level,
11:36this ballad helps guide their connection. The double meaning in the lyrics describing two
11:40people from entirely different worlds coming together is already phenomenal,
11:44but that musical composition? Wow.
11:47I just know there's something bigger out there I wanna know, can you show me
11:56I wanna know about the strangers like me
11:59It has the kind of hook that enters straight into the soul and lights it up. If you've had
12:03a bad day, let this be the song that reminds you of all the good the world has to offer.
12:08Take my hand, there's a world I need to know
12:18Number 8. I Just Can't Wait To Be King, The Lion King
12:21Before Simba was taking his place as the king of the Pride Lands, he was just a fun-loving
12:26cub dreaming about all the perks of being top cat. In song form, no less.
12:30I'm gonna be a mighty king, so enemies beware
12:34Taking us along for a snappy and hilarious trek through the Pride Lands,
12:38Simba gloats about how awesome it'll be when he's the ruler. Of course,
12:42the always cynical Zazu adds his own two cents on what's expected of a monarch.
12:46Everywhere you look I'm standing in the spotlight
12:51Even though Simba's journey to find his place in the circle of life ends up going a little
12:56differently than he expected, this bouncy track reminds us how important it is to cut
13:00loose and look forward to the future, no matter what's in store.
13:03Oh, I just can't wait to be king
13:08Oh, I just can't wait to be king
13:13Number 7. Prince Ali, Aladdin
13:16Aladdin's daring escape in One Jump Ahead certainly gets the blood pumping.
13:20I steal only what I can afford
13:23But it's the genie's spectacular introduction of Prince Ali that never fails to get us excited
13:28and singing along. And you better believe we do all the voices.
13:32He feasts galloping hordes
13:34A hundred bad guys with swords
13:36Push in those goons to their lords
13:38My Prince Ali
13:40Blending together Robin Williams' knack for accents, his bellowing voice, and his signature
13:44humor, Prince Ali presents us with a laundry list of Ali's qualities that's as pleasant
13:49to listen to as it is entertaining.
13:51Prince Ali, handsome as hail, Ali Ababwa
13:55That's a steak, how can I say, quick at the nail
14:00Slowly building into a huge musical number worthy of a spectacular coterie
14:04This pump-up track is perfect if you want to make a grand entrance
14:08Number 6. We Don't Talk About Bruno, Encanto
14:12Here it is, the biggest earworm in a Disney movie that could not be more jam-packed with them.
14:17We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no
14:22We don't talk about Bruno
14:25We get to hear the whole cast team up for this medley,
14:28where everyone gets to share their story about the Prophet, and the rumor mill is in full swing.
14:33Yeah, he sees your dreams, he's on the screens
14:39We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no
14:43The chorus of different voices works beautifully to create a number that's so full and so lively,
14:48but really, it all comes down to that phenomenal harmony.
14:52How are we supposed to refrain from talking about Bruno
14:59when the big song all about him won't get out of our heads?
15:02Number 5. Why Should I Worry, Oliver & Company
15:06There's absolutely no reason for this one to go as hard as it does,
15:10and then you remember Billy Joel is at the helm, and it all makes sense.
15:13One minute I'm in Central Park
15:18And I'm down on the last street
15:21Why Should I Worry is a total feel-good number,
15:24introducing the carefree, street-savvy mutt, Dodger.
15:26He makes his way through New York City with Oliver in tow,
15:29showing the latter just how much he owns the city.
15:32I said, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
15:37I'm a street smart
15:40I got New York City heart
15:42His message is so appealing,
15:44even the other dogs break away to follow at one point.
15:47Count us in.
15:48If you're dealing with a stressor,
15:49this song might just provide the relief you're looking for.
16:03Number 4. Under the Sea, The Little Mermaid
16:06The seaweed is always greener in somebody else's lake
16:11You dream about going up there, but that is a big mistake
16:15While Ariel may ultimately throw caution to the wind and leave her ocean home,
16:19Sebastian does make a pretty convincing argument for her to stay under the sea
16:23in this Golden Globe, Grammy, and Academy Award-winning song.
16:28Under the sea, under the sea
16:33Darling, it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me
16:36Making some pretty fair points on how the seaweed is always greener,
16:40this upbeat Calypso-style tune is sure to put a smile on your face no matter how dreary things seem,
16:46serving as a careful and funky reminder to be thankful for what you have.
17:00Ariel may not stick around to listen to the whole thing,
17:02but we can't get enough of it every time we need to get pumped.
17:06Number 3. Hakuna Matata, The Lion King
17:09Hakuna Matata ain't no passing craze
17:15It means no worries for the rest of your day
17:20With a cheerful melody, reassuring lyrics,
17:22and humor by the bucketload courtesy of Timon and Pumbaa,
17:25Hakuna Matata is a staple for a reason.
17:28And I got down on it, don't you feel, every time that I
17:32Hey Pumbaa, not in front of the kids
17:33It's short and sweet, with an interlude from Pumbaa's past and a message that's plain as day.
17:38Of course, in Simba's case, his story is about stepping into the role of responsibility.
17:43But for the rest of us who have enough on our plates as it is,
17:46the moral is one that we could use a little more of.
17:48And even if that doesn't apply,
17:50Hakuna Matata is still bound to get you up and dancing around your room.
17:54It means no worries for the rest of your days
18:00It's our problem-free philosophy
18:05Number 2. Zero to Hero, Hercules
18:08He was so hot, steam looked cool
18:12Oh yeah, bless my soul
18:17Kirk was on a roll
18:18Cursing out the weak in every Greek opinion poll
18:21Who doesn't love a good montage?
18:23After Hercules bests the fearsome Hydra,
18:26what was once a somber mood explodes into high-octane mania
18:29as we're treated to a condensed musical listing of Wonder Boy's various labors,
18:34courtesy of the sassiest incarnation of the Muses you will ever hear.
18:38With its fast pace and gospel-influenced style,
18:40you can't help but follow in Herc's footsteps
18:43as he takes on challenge after challenge and still comes out on top.
18:46Fighting hard
18:47And the nicest guy
18:48Not conceded
18:50He was a no-man
18:51Zero, zero
18:52Now he's a hot guy
18:53He's our hero
18:54He is the hyper-brain-less
18:56Speed
18:57One thing's for sure, you won't be taking things slow with this track blasting in your ears.
19:02And if you're looking for a little motivation,
19:04there's always go the distance to spur you on through every endeavor.
19:08Till I find my hero's welcome right
19:12Where I belong
19:18Yes, indeed.

19:38Mulan
19:39Let's get down to business
19:42To defeat the Huns
19:47Did they send me daughters?
19:50Take one of the best protagonists Disney's ever given us,
19:54add a heroic power ballad featuring the singing chops of one Donny Osmond,
19:58and you'll have a song that will truly fill you with determination.
20:01You must be swift at the chorusing rigor
20:05With all the force of the great Tartuffe
20:09While this track may list the qualities a so-called real man should possess,
20:13the fact that Mulan, a woman, is able to rise up and succeed
20:16where others couldn't adds a whole other layer to the track.
20:19It's an anthem of empowerment, one that happens to be so damn catchy
20:23you won't be able to not get pumped while listening to it.
20:26If you ever want to push yourself to run that extra lap, this is your track.
20:31With all the strength of a raging fire
