00:00Andrea, Inside Out 2 was so beautiful.
00:03You know, we had, you know, anxiety was such a great addition to the feelings.
00:11Talk about the toolbox and what, how you wanted anxiety to sound like.
00:16What instruments were your go-to for her?
00:18My go-to instruments, well, I wanted there to be the sense of, how does anxiety get your
00:26attention?
00:27Right?
00:28It's got, it's got a sort of alarm to it, right?
00:31Like it gets your attention.
00:33And then it can be insidious, isn't a nice word for lovely, lovely anxiety who has such
00:38good intentions, but this way of convincing you.
00:43So I wanted to capture that sort of zing of it getting, getting your attention.
00:49And then this alarm coming on that stays with, keeps you vigilant to get through this message.
00:54So there was this sample that I, I knew there was this sound, I knew it, but I couldn't
01:02find it in anything.
01:03I had, oh yeah, Inside Out, the first one, Michael had created this sample, that's this
01:10sort of reversed piano pluck, zing, and it just was perfect.
01:17So we repurposed that for that.
01:19So when you first see anxiety, and when she is screwing in the idea light bulb, or on
01:27many places, you'll hear that zing, which I layered with a bow dulcimer for that.
01:35And then for this, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
01:45Which is, and then in later iterations, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da,
01:53da, da, da, or a march, or that, I enlisted the help of soloist Elisa Park, a violin soloist,
02:00because I thought it should have this sort of edgy feeling to that, that repeated note
02:08should be, have a little bit of an edgy feeling to it.
02:11So that solo violin, and I had her, I talked to her about it.
02:15I said, I'm so sorry.
02:17You will love this or not, but you
02:19are going to be the voice of anxiety in a certain way here.
02:22And she goes, my kids would tell you that's right, yeah.
02:27So that was the basics of the toolbox.
02:30And then the great thing about this film
02:33is it allowed the great thing.
02:37Actually, probably the least great thing
02:39about this film compared to all the wonderful things.
02:43It allowed so many different iterations.
02:45There were so many different ways to play with that.
02:48But that was the basics of what I wanted to capture with it.
