00:21Five people, including teenagers, were seriously injured in a shootout after drug-related violence
00:26broke out in Poitiers.
00:34Flood-hit regions in Spain are bracing for more rains on Friday as authorities said hundreds
00:39of soldiers have been deployed to assist in rescue efforts.
00:44The latest comes after devastating flash floods killed at least 205 people in the nation's
00:50worst natural disaster in decades.
00:53Residents in the hardest-hit eastern province of Valencia are counting their losses.
01:23Meanwhile, flood survivors on Thursday queued for food and water in the battered town of
01:34Pai Pota.
01:36The city on the southern outskirts of Valencia was devastated by a sudden wave of mud almost
01:41two metres high.
01:43Residents said the water came without warning on Tuesday.
01:48Authorities say they've now issued red warnings for areas in southwest Spain near the border
01:53with Portugal.
01:55Heavy rainstorms in the early hours of Friday flooded parts of the city and nearby areas.
02:06After four days without airstrikes on Beirut, Israel launched multiple attacks on the capital's
02:11southern suburb, Dahiya.
02:14The attack flattened dozens of buildings and caused multiple fires.
02:18The Israeli military claimed that its operation on the capital is targeting Hezbollah's military
02:23infrastructure.
02:26Hours after the attack, Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets towards northern Israel, which
02:31wounded one person.
02:34In recent days, Israel also intensified its attacks on the northeastern city of Baalbek
02:39and nearby villages, as well as different parts of southern Lebanon.
02:45At least 24 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on different villages across the
02:49country's northeast, with the death toll still expected to rise as searches continue
02:54for those who may still be buried under the rubble.
02:58Meanwhile in Gaza, the Israeli military claimed they killed Izz al-Din Kassab, who is one
03:03of the last senior Hamas officials.
03:11The officers of the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees have been heavily damaged during
03:16an Israeli raid in a West Bank refugee camp.
03:19The official Palestinian news agency alleged Israeli military bulldozers had partially
03:25demolished the UNWA building.
03:27However, the Israeli military denied it damaged the building in the Nur Shams refugee camp.
03:32It said militants had planted explosives nearby and set them off to attack Israeli troops
03:38and that the blast had likely damaged the building.
03:41The incident comes after Israel's parliament passed laws this week effectively banning
03:46UNWA's operations in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
03:50Israel accuses the agency of turning a blind eye to militants among its staff, a claim
03:55UNWA denies.
03:57The law comes into effect in three months.
04:00So we say this very, very clearly, UNWA is part of the past.
04:05It's part of the problem.
04:08UNWA members took part in this massacre.
04:10Now it's time for the international community, first and foremost the United Nations themselves,
04:16to rethink and to do what's right in order to really be of help to Palestinians, instead
04:23of just sticking to their former ideas, which were an UNWA which was infiltrated, taken
04:29over and eventually massively misused by the terrorists of Hamas.
04:36Multiple UN agencies have rallied around UNWA, calling it the backbone of the World
04:41Body's aid activities in Gaza and other Palestinian areas.
04:46UNWA provides education, health care and emergency aid to millions of Palestinian refugees from
04:51the 1948 war surrounding Israel's creation.
04:56Refugee families make up the majority of Gaza's population.
06:06Japan signed a historic pact of security and defence.
06:10It is the first agreement of its kind between the EU and an Indo-Pacific country.
06:15During a joint statement in Tokyo with the Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwai, EU
06:20top diplomat Giuseppe Borell said it is a timely step amid the growing tensions with
06:25China, North Korea and Russia.
06:27It's a historical and very timely step given the situation in both of our regions.
06:35This political framework deepens our ability to tackle emergency threats together and towards
06:45a future where our values, our common values of democracy, human rights and the rules-based
06:54international order will continue to guide our way.
07:00The high representative is on a tour of East Asia where he will also hold strategic conversations
07:05with South Korea to discuss the EU's increased engagement with the region.
07:11It comes as China and Russia stepped up their joint military activities and North Korea
07:15recently sent troops to help fight alongside Russia.
07:23The Biden administration has said around 8,000 soldiers from North Korea are now in Kursk
07:30preparing to help Russia fight against Ukrainian troops.
07:34Moscow and Pyongyang have deepened military cooperation in recent months.
07:39Kiev has long accused North Korea of supplying Russia with weapons and ammunition.
07:44And earlier this year, both countries signed a mutual defence pact.
07:48Russia's actions with respect to the DPRK are not only dangerous, but they are antithetical
07:54to its responsibility as a permanent member of this UN Security Council.
08:00Russia's military cooperation with the DPRK violates multiple UN Security Council resolutions
08:06which prohibit both procuring DPRK arms and providing military training.
08:12Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said that while North Korean troops have been deployed
08:16to Kursk, they have not yet taken part in any hostilities.
08:21North Korea's move to deepen its relationship with Russia has raised concerns around the
08:26world about how that may expand the war in Ukraine.
08:30There are also questions about what new military technologies North Korea might get from Russia
08:35in exchange for the deployment.
08:42Five people, including teenagers, were seriously injured in a shootout after drug-related violence
08:47which involved 50 to 60 people, broke out in Place Coimbra in the western French city
08:52of Poitiers.
09:13There has been a rising concern in drug-related violence in France, particularly in cities
09:29outside of main hubs like Marseille and Paris. The city's mayor said the new episode of violence
09:34is unacceptable for the neighbourhood and has promised police reinforcement.
09:42North Korean television broadcasted footage of the country's latest giant missile test.
09:47Their state news agency claimed the missile flew thousands of kilometres into the sky
09:52and into space before falling into the sea east of the country.
09:56In recent years, North Korea has reported steady advancement in its efforts to obtain
10:01nuclear tipped missiles. Many experts believe North Korea likely has missiles that can deliver
10:06nuclear strikes on South Korea but has yet to possess nukes that could travel to places
10:11like mainland US.
10:18Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris campaigned in the western part of the US, criss-crossing
10:23the key string states of Arizona and Nevada. Trump appeared with far-right media personality
10:30Tucker Carlson in Arizona and claimed to be ahead in the polls race. The Republican candidate
10:36said it was heading for great victory.
10:47Trump's appearance in Glendale followed earlier stops in New Mexico and Nevada where thousands
10:52of supporters showed up. Meanwhile, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris took
10:59her campaign to a Las Vegas rally.
11:19Earlier, Harris introduced Jennifer Lopez who rallied voters in support of the US Vice
11:24President.
11:33The presidential election will be held on Tuesday, 5 November in the US. Already, more
11:39than 65 million people have cast their ballots in the race as of October 31.
