Pedro Sanchez: "I know that we have to do better and that we have to give our all, but I also know that we have to do it together."
Transcript
00:00The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, requested aid from the European Solidarity
00:07Fund to help Spain recover from what he said is the most serious flooding the continent
00:11has seen so far this century.
00:14The government is expected to declare a state of catastrophe this week as the death toll
00:19rose to over 200 people.
00:21I am aware that the response that is being given is not enough, I know that there are
00:28problems and severe shortages, that there are still collapsed services, municipalities
00:34buried in mud, desperate people looking for their relatives, people who cannot access
00:39their homes, destroyed homes and buried in the mud, I know that we have to improve and
00:45that we have to give everything, but I also know that we have to do it together.
00:51Spain ordered the largest peacetime deployment ever and will send 10,000 additional troops
00:56to Valencia, which saw the most impact of the tragic floods.
01:02Casualties are expected to rise as rescue teams continue their search for missing people.
