"Be Happy" (1940) is performed by Glenn Miller & His Orchestra
Vocalist is Marion Hutton
Issued on Bluebird B-10796
Music by Louis Prima & Edgar Battle
Lyrics by Henry Nemo
Bill Finegan, arrangement
Glenn Miller was born on March 1, 1904.
At age 40, Miller went missing in action on December 15, 1944, when his plane disappeared in bad weather over the English Channel.
It is possible that his plane was hit by bombs being dropped in the English channel from a returning allied bombing raid which had aborted the mission and was dumping the live ordinance.
Or Miller's plane was shot by a gunner in the RAF due to the assumption that Miller's plane was a German fighter or reconnaissance plane.
The Army Air Corp was in charge of the sky during daylight hours, while the RAF was in charge during the night.
Perhaps the Army Air Corp never informed the RAF that an Army plane was crossing the Channel, or maybe radio silence prevented the RAF from forwarding the message to their already airborne bombers.
