A passenger on his way to deliver fish to market died after his four-wheel drive crashed through a bridge railing into a river in Tawau, Sabah on Sunday (Nov 3).

The driver of the truck who sustained minor injuries has been arrested for causing death due to reckless driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

00:19Police said the 31-year-old passenger of the vehicle died at the hospital after being found
00:24at the accident site at Batu 2, Jalan Apas at 5.25 am on Sunday.
00:30Initial investigations showed they were coming into Tawau district from the northern Kudat
00:34district to supply fish at the market.
00:37The driver was believed to have been speeding and lost control of his vehicle before skidding
00:42and crashing through the iron railings of the bridge and plunging into the river.
00:47The public assisted the victim to safety while firemen helped pull out the second victim.
00:53The two victims were sent to Tawau Hospital by ambulance, but the passenger died during
00:58treatment.
