Darlene Anderson demonstrates spinning alpaca wool.
Transcript
00:00Hi I'm Darlene and I'm actually spinning some alpaca fleece here at the moment. I'm taking this alpaca fleece which has been treated and combed and made worthy of spinning and we're actually making it into some yarn.
00:13Once I've actually finished spinning this lot I'll spin a second lot and then I'll apply it together and then I'll be able to use it for knitting or crocheting or any other craft I wish.
00:22It's an old skill but it's a current skill as well. There's still a lot of spinners out there and we actually even had a young girl 16 years of age the other day come in and we taught her how to spin from the guild that I'm part of.
00:37So we actually have a lot of fun just learning new talents. It's really lots of fun. People should try spinning. If you've ever got a desire to do it you really should. It's lots of fun.
00:48And relaxing. I find it very, very relaxing just trying to sit back and do nothing as the world passes you by and the fluff becomes wool. It's lovely.
