Specialist arson police are investigating a house fire which left a person dead in Melbourne’s south-east last night. It’s the second fatal fire in Melbourne in two days.

00:07Emergency services were called at around 6.30 to a property on Goldborough Court in Frankston
00:12South.
00:13And after firefighters extinguished the blaze, they located a person dead inside.
00:17That person is yet to be formally identified, but a crime scene this morning has been established
00:22and an arson chemist and detectives will be on site trying to establish the circumstances
00:27around what caused the fire.
00:29Now, police cannot say yet whether it is being treated as suspicious, but they're urging
00:33anyone who witnessed the event or who has CCTV to come forward and contact police.
00:38This is the second fatal fire we've seen in Melbourne over the past couple of days.
00:43On the early hours of Sunday morning, a home was found fully ablaze when firefighters arrived
00:48in St Albans on Power Street, which is in Melbourne's North West.
00:52Now firefighters battled for almost an hour to try and put out the blaze, but it was so
00:56large that it was threatening nearby properties.
00:58In fact, a three-storey apartment building and nearby townhouses were forced to evacuate
01:04to escape the flames and the threat of them.
01:06Now that fire is still being investigated, but we believe at this point it is not being
01:10treated as suspicious.
