00:00Liverpool got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-1 comeback victory
00:04over Brighton. The quick-fire goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah ensured that Liverpool
00:08returned to the top of the Premier League table after Manchester City and Arsenal failed to win
00:13in what was an eventful Premier League weekend. Mohamed Salah once again did it for Liverpool
00:18when it mattered, scoring a fantastic goal curling into the top corner on a counter-attack
00:22to give Liverpool the lead after what was a difficult game against a very testing Brighton
00:27side and that's now nine goals and seven assists in just 15 games with 12 contributions coming in
00:34just 10 league games and it's safe to say that Salah has not missed a beat this season and at 31
00:39he looks as fresh as ever and maybe he has lost that little bit of pace that go past players and
00:43the dribbling stats may be down but overall his effectiveness and importance of this team cannot
00:48be understated at the moment. Other than Mohamed Salah it's clear that Cody Gakpo is becoming a
00:53very important part of this squad even if he hasn't been a consistent starter. Gakpo once again
00:58proves to be a key player for Liverpool. His numbers aren't hugely impressive with just one
01:03goal in 10 league games but he has been very much a backup alternative for Diaz who started the
01:08season in such glowing form and he is a very different outlet to Diaz who is much more of a
01:13natural winger. Goals against Brighton in both games in the cup and in the league this week show
01:17just how important he is to the squad this season. One sour note for Liverpool fans was seeing Ibrahim
01:22go off the pitch with what looked like a dislocated shoulder. Now after the game he posted a photo on
01:28Instagram to say that he will be back for the next game so we'll have to see what officially
01:32happens over the next few days but if he's given it all clear for the go-ahead then it looks like
01:36he should be back and he must have been told that he will be available for the next game which of
01:40course is in the Champions League on Tuesday night against Bayer Leverkusen. But while Canarte has
01:45been one of Liverpool's best players this season it's really good to see how Joe Gomez came on
01:50with very limited game time this season. The way he slotted in and made two clearances, two blocks,
01:56one tackle and completed 100% of his aerial duels and ground duels and just proved that
02:01he could slip into that centre-back role at any point really and he came on the game at a very
02:06difficult time for Liverpool and he proved that he is calm on the ball. He's still a very important
02:10player in the squad and of course there's going to be injuries across the course of the season
02:14and Liverpool only have four senior centre-backs to their name and Gomez will have to step up at
02:19some point but with that substitute performance it's clear that he's proven that he is ready and
02:24fit and ready to go if needed. But for now Liverpool remain top. It's another win,
02:28another move in the right direction and it's on to Bayer Leverkusen next.
