00:00Every year millions of people across the globe take out their binoculars or set
00:06up their spotting scopes to get a closer look at birds. What is it about our
00:11feathered friends that so intrigues us? And why are so many people absolutely
00:17mad about birds? Hi I'm James Curry and I am one of those mad people. I've led
00:26birding tours to places ranging from Madagascar to Florida. So it's an
00:32absolute pleasure to be partnering with National Geographic in this amazing
00:37expedition to explore the birds of North America. My goal is simple. I'm going to
00:45give you the tools you need to observe, identify and enjoy the birds around you.
00:51We'll start with the basics of bird anatomy, habitat and migration so that
00:58you'll learn not only what to look for but also where and when. I'll also give
01:04you tips on using optical equipment and we'll cover plenty of tactics for
01:09observing birds more closely than you ever have before. Whether you're a novice
01:15birder or someone who's been observing birds for years, this course will give
01:20you the skills you need to turn every day into a birding adventure.
01:27The National Geographic Guide to Birding in North America.
