00:00Today is where many schools come to compete for the champion of like building Minecraft
00:18and we get different topics and just build what you can to the best of your ability.
00:25So today I'm supporting eSports with Minecraft which is bringing lots of schools together
00:31at the Principality Stadium to really showcase how Minecraft delivers on the curriculum for
00:36Wales.
00:40You can see how involved the children and the pupils are, the learners have really enjoyed
00:46today and plus learning and incorporating things like maths, science, they've also got
00:51to see the stadium, they've got to see some real life games and they're having an absolute
00:55blast.
01:00My role for this was initially setting up the club where the boys could get that little
01:04bit more practice in before each fixture so on a Thursday after school instead of myself
01:11being out doing rugby fixtures I was inside doing eSports fixtures which for me was a
01:15bit of a first but I thoroughly enjoyed what I had to do for it.
01:23I think with eSports it's that collaboration between sport and eSports and it's showcasing
01:30how these skills are transferable to moving on to build these, build your future coaches,
01:36build your future analysts.
01:37I know those digital skills, your cameramen, your in-game observers so it's all leading
01:43into sort of future careers within sort of that sporting and digital skills aspect.
01:52It's had a massive impact on the pupils, I've seen pupils who have kind of been on the fringe
01:59of to start with extracurricular and have all of a sudden found something that they're
02:04good at and they enjoy and more than that we've seen confidence growing in those pupils
02:09then who have actually moved on from having been involved in the WRU eSports to actually
02:15taking up rugby with local clubs in the area.
