00:00So I think that we are now joined live once more by Carlos Montero, our special envoy.
00:07He is in Washington, D.C. He has joined us throughout this night.
00:11Hello, Carlos. Thank you once again. And please tell us what information do you have?
00:18We are looking at this moment almost half an hour before midnight, Wisconsin,
00:25Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Those are the chances. I think at this time of the night,
00:31the only chance is Kamala Harris has to win the election. But let's see what's happened.
00:40It's going to be a short margin for the numbers we are getting right now. But she depends on those
00:46three states to change the situation. We don't know what's going to happen. I think we are not
00:54going to know the results tonight. On the side of Donald Trump, they are pretty excited. Elon Musk,
01:02who is with him precisely in Mar-a-Lago in Florida, he wrote down, he wrote in his
01:10ex-account, he said almost match point, game match. I mean, like it's over. That's the
01:17information he's getting. That's the information he's giving to Donald Trump. And like I told you
01:23before, it's something really amazing. I was listening to you when you were talking about
01:28when Donald Trump lost the last election, 2020. Many people, I was included, said he's not going
01:37to come back. He's not going to come back. That's the end of his political career. Then we have
01:43problem with the justice. He was prosecuted. But he's back. He's back and he's doing a great
01:49election. And he's really close. We don't know yet, but he looks like he's close to win the
01:54election. And you were talking about something that's not common. But it reminds me that I'm
02:01from Argentina. I was born in Argentina. Christina Kirchner, she left the presidency.
02:12Her party lost. Mauricio Macri took over. And everybody, all the specialists agree,
02:20it's the end of Christina Fernandez de Kirchner. She's not going to come back. She cannot come back.
02:26Four years later, Macri lost the election. And Christina is something that you have to study
02:34what she did because it's something politically amazing. She's back in power. She's back in
02:41Casa Rosada. It was for Argentina, the White House. But as vice president, she put somebody
02:48else, Alberto Fernandez, as president. So what I mean is amazing. And what I'm talking about here
02:55is that the same way that many of us, we saw that Trump was dead politically,
03:02Christina Fernandez de Kirchner, she survived like the other phoenix she raised from the ashes.
03:09But that's something amazing. We are going to study. We are going to study also in the future,
03:13how come Donald Trump can revert. We can analyze the situation. There are many positions we can
03:20say. Some people say the economy, the economy is not doing as great as the papers show you,
03:28because the World Bank, they're saying USA is doing great. The Wall Street is doing okay.
03:36But the people, the people that Trump know how to talk, how to convince, they feel that they are
03:44not doing good. They think that America is not what it should be. It's not America great like
03:52Donald Trump is promising. Make America great. America is for American people.
04:01And that's the way, I mean, he's getting close to be very close to get back to the
04:09White House. We have to see if he wins the election, what's going to happen with the
04:15Congress, because it's something that we have to pay attention to see what's going to happen.
04:21So far, what we've been watching, there are a lot of right, extreme right, like Cuban-American
04:28who are back, Maria Elvira Salazar, Diaz-Balart. They won. They are in the lower house. Also,
04:38Chris Scott as a senator. Those are people who has a vision very close of what's going on in
04:45Latin America. And those people, they make decisions. They have a lot of power regarding
04:53the relationship between USA and Venezuela, USA and Cuba, USA and the rest of Latin America.
05:01The one who is happy, I was talking about Argentina before, is Javier Millet. Javier
05:06Millet is very close to Donald Trump. So if Donald Trump wins this election, he has a good ally,
05:13a good friend in the south of the continent. Because like, remember last week when they
05:20voted in the United Nations to condemn the embargo against Cuba, only two countries support,
05:31they didn't want to stop it, USA and Israel. Argentina voted in favor to stop it. And what
05:40Millet did, he fired the foreign minister because he said, that's not what I want. I want to be
05:47close to the USA and I want to be close to Israel. So I mean, he's going to have a good
05:53friend. They met each other only once and he made a big deal out of that. So let's see what's
05:59happened. How it's going to be USA in foreign relation with the Trump presidency. But maybe
06:05I'm talking ahead because we don't know what's going to happen. Let's pay attention to those
06:11three states. They call it the blue wall because they are in the north, close to Canada. And if
06:19Kamala Harris, she gets those three states, maybe we are going to change our conversation.
06:27And maybe Trump is going to be out of the picture and Kamala Harris is going to
06:32stay in the White House, but not as a vice president, but as a president. Okay, we are
06:37going to be paying attention. We are almost at the end of the day. And like I said before,
06:43I don't think we are going to know the results tonight. Maybe after midnight, but not tonight.
06:52Yes, Carlos, Gladys over here. And you were saying that maybe we will talk indifferently
06:58if some of the swing states lean to Kamala Harris and the Democrat party. But I want to talk to you
07:05about something else because in the days prior to the election, the secret service and intelligence
07:12in the United States have been saying that they have been checking and receiving some threats
07:17regarding political violence, the prospect of political violence in the nation. And we know
07:23they had a big surprise back in January 6th of 2021 with the other certification and the other
07:29process of the election in the aftermath of the results. So how do you perceive the security,
07:36the safety situation and what do you know, what intel do you have regarding this topic?
07:44The situation, I mean, there is a perception, there is a feeling here in the capital talking
07:51to different people that anything could happen after what's happened. Four years ago, you know,
07:58people are really scared. I was walking from the hotel to here where we have the studio and
08:05some of the stores, they cover all the windows with blocks of good just in case there is any kind
08:14of problems, any kind of violence. The security is really extreme. I can see a lot of police
08:22on the street of the capital. But I mean, when they asked Trump, what's the possibility about
08:32the violence, he said, don't even ask that because it's not going to happen.
08:38The candidate for the vice president of Donald Trump, he said something this morning and I agree
08:44with him that he said when he was voting in Ohio, whoever wins this election,
08:51half of the country is going to be upset. That's true. The country is divided. But violence,
09:00I was scared at the beginning of the day. I didn't know what was going to happen, but hopefully it's
09:06not going to be. I watched a group who was monitoring the election. They said, you know,
09:13everything went smooth. There were little incidents, some were malfunctioning in the
09:20computer systems, but nothing serious. So at the election, they didn't show to have any kind
09:27of problem. Let's see what's happening in the next hours. But I was expecting maybe something
09:33was going to happen. But at this point, after being here for so long, I think that problem
09:42is passed. You know, I hope so, mostly. Yeah, we know that so far it is calm. But
09:48on the morning time, we had some reports regarding some individual that tried to get in,
09:55supposedly Capitol Hill, and he was carrying fuel. And those were the reports in the morning.
10:01But I think, and I know, I want to know if you have common ground with me in this,
10:08that maybe because Trump is on the lead, is there why is no,
10:14you know, advances of this kind of events, of this kind of accidents also?
10:22That was an incident, you know, that the police arrest this guy. They are thinking it's somebody
10:28who has some kind of mental issues. But if we compare what's happened four years ago,
10:34you were talking what's going on in the Capitol when the group of Donald Trump, I was really
10:40surprised because we did a lot of our coverage in a place behind the White House. And that's the
10:49place like there is a big green space, you know, like maybe three, four acres. And that's where
10:56the place four years ago, when they are going to validate the result, Mike Pence, that's when
11:04Trump was talking to his followers and was telling them, don't let them steal the election from us.
11:11Let Mike Pence, the vice president, his vice president, to do the right thing and not accept
11:18the result. Those people who were listening to him, they will run to the Capitol and we know
11:24what's happened. It was really insane. What's happened last Tuesday, Kamala Harris was here
11:31and she wanted to do a meeting in the same place where four years ago Trump talked to the followers
11:39and then they ended in the Capitol. And she said, we are American, don't want more violence.
11:45We are going to try to respect each other. If I'm the president, I'm going to be the president,
11:52not of the right, not of the left, not of the blue, not of the red. I'm going to be the president
11:57of four Americans. So, I mean, time change. I think the USA learned it was really embarrassing
12:06what's happened four years ago in the Capitol. It was one of the darkest moments in the history
12:11of this country. And hopefully we are not going to see something like this again.
12:17Yes, Carlos. So, it is always good to have you. We're giving us all the details, the updates
12:24regarding the situation there. And we will wait for you in upcoming contacts to provide us with
12:31more intel and more information. Thank you very much. Bye-bye.
