00:00Mr. Speaker, I think we finally figured out why the Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland
00:05hasn't been able to make it to Northern Ireland just yet. Can I thank the Government and also
00:13the Northern Ireland Executive for their recent commitment to Derry Airport, the city of Derry
00:18Airport. The public service obligation on the Heathrow flight is very important for connectivity
00:24to the northwest of Ireland. But can I ask him when he is reviewing that for the next
00:29transit funding that we're hopefully able to get, can he do some work with the airline
00:34to bring fares down because they are out of reach for many people in that area.
00:40Can I thank the Honourable Member for all he does in this space and yes to join him in encouraging
00:45the Shadow Secretary of State to go to Northern Ireland which is a fine country. The Honourable
00:52Member knows that I visit regularly through either Belfast or Derry, London Derry. It is a great
01:00place to live, visit and work and do business. On a specific point about prices I encourage him,
01:08I mean his connectivity is 19 flights I think or more a week in the summer from Derry, London Derry
01:17which is really well connected and I would suggest to him to get involved with the airlines,
01:22the airport owners to do this but yes we can look at this when we come up to review with our public
01:28sector obligation.
