00:00Well, Jason Kelsey made his apology for what happened, although it's more of an explanation.
00:05Not an apology.
00:06Yeah.
00:07For what happened on campus at Penn State where, if you missed it, this guy was running
00:11after him and used the homophobic slur referring to Travis, and Jason turned around and smashed
00:16his phone and then hurled it back at him three times.
00:19So Jason went on ESPN on Monday night and said, you know, I shouldn't have greeted hate
00:26with hate.
00:27But we knew he was going to address this on the podcast with his brother.
00:31He kind of teed it up, and he did.
00:33So he elaborated on, and I think this came closer to an apology from Jason for using
00:40that word.
00:42But then listen to Travis' take on the fact that his brother used that word.
00:47They don't necessarily seem to be on the same page about what happened.
00:50Nope.
00:51The thing that I regret the most is saying that word, to be honest with you.
00:55The word he used is ridiculous.
00:58In the heat of the moment, I thought in my head, Hey, what, what, what can I say back
01:02to him?
01:03I'm going to throw the right back in his face.
01:05I know now that that was, I shouldn't have done that because now there's a video out
01:07there with me saying that word, him saying that word, and it's not good for anybody.
01:12I know it's weighing on your brother sucks.
01:14You shouldn't, you shouldn't feel this much, uh, obviously the scrutiny and are the media
01:20like view on it and everybody passing around the videos that are being out there.
01:25I mean, that's, uh, that's going to make it a bigger situation than I think what it really
01:29is.
01:30But the real situation is you had clown come up to you and talk about your family and you
01:35reacted in a way, um, that was defending your family and you might've used some words, uh,
01:41that, uh, you regret using and, uh, and that's a situation that we're, you just gotta kind
01:46of learn from and, uh, and own the word to defend your family.
01:54So that word was, I will say that from what I heard Jason say, it sounds like he understands,
02:00I think he gets it, that it's a hurtful word and he hates that there's a video of him saying
02:04this word.
02:05And as he said, that's not good for anybody.
02:07But to say this is the media that's circulating on the media, it's like, geez, I mean, he
02:14just doesn't get it.
02:16And I'm not sure what Travis is exactly talking about because none of these sponsors that,
02:21that have sponsored the Kelsey brothers have really talked about this publicly or admonished
02:25him publicly.
02:26His job at ESPN has been safe.
02:27They have not said anything admonishing him or suspending him or banning him or doing
02:31anything sort of.
02:32Well, that's his point is that, that all the, all the advertisers are fine or employers
02:37are fine.
02:38So why are we in the media talking about it?
02:41It's not a big deal.
02:42No, there's an answer to that.
02:45And the answer is that all the advertisers, what they look at, all they care about is
02:49they look at social media and they say, if he's getting torn apart, we're going to cancel
02:53him.
02:54And if he's not getting torn apart, we'll embrace him.
02:55And he wasn't getting torn apart.
02:56A lot of people supported him and that's why they embraced him.
02:59But that has nothing to do with the statement itself.
03:03And the media saying, yeah, this is a news story that he hurled at three times.
03:08And I don't think Travis gets it.
03:09Hi, I'm Sierra from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
03:13And I support Jason in this situation.
03:18Is it unfortunate that he used a homophobic word?
03:21Absolutely.
03:22It was the heat of the moment exchange person hurled it at him first.
03:26It's not language that he was using all willy nilly and it's just an unfortunate situation.
03:31And he maybe could have had a stronger, you know, apology, but you know, context truly
03:36matters in this situation.
03:38And you know, it seems like he, you know, regrets it.
