00:05time. And despite the pandemic being over, many have retained their remote work status,
00:09and it's become somewhat of a norm. However, now Tesla CEO Elon Musk says those who want
00:14to continue working from home are, quote, detached from reality, criticizing the movement.
00:20During a recent financial call, he outlined his feelings about remote work,
00:23telling those in the meeting that questions like why doesn't everyone work from home
00:27give off real Marie Antoinette vibes. Referencing, of course, her let them eat
00:31cake quote from the 18th century with regards to starving peasants, with Musk adding, quote,
00:36how detached from reality does the work from home crowd have to be while they take advantage of
00:40those who cannot work from home? Why did I sleep in the factory so many times? Because it mattered.
00:45Musk has often championed sleeping in offices. In fact, he was under investigation by San Francisco
00:50authorities just last year after he began turning Twitter's offices into bedrooms.
00:55Meanwhile, in reality, myriad studies have shown that work from home arrangements have
00:58been not only great for workers, but also for business, with a study of Microsoft employees
01:03from earlier this year finding a 10% increase in hours worked and a 13% uptick in performance
01:09by those who labored remotely.
