00:00Algeria, tomorrow
00:13Hello, welcome to Algeria Tomorrow.
00:16With a long maritime front of 1622 km, Algeria is positioned as a gateway on the entire Mediterranean outskirts.
00:25The goal is to stimulate its national economy through trade with African, European and Asian ports, but also the rest of the world.
00:34Algeria is full of fishing ports and commercial ports, and what I propose to you is to discover three of them, they are colossal.
00:43With the Mediterranean Sea to the north, 95% of Algerian foreign trade is exercised by maritime transport.
00:50The port of Anaba is one of the actors of this international commercial architecture.
00:55It has the number of the main ports of trade in Algeria.
00:59Its influence is spread over 12 wilayahs.
01:02These lakes are located in highly potential industrial areas.
01:06There are phosphate iron mines and oil fields.
01:09Anaba is famous for its industrial and merchant mix.
01:13The particularity of the port of Anaba is that it is a semi-industrial port.
01:19So there is a part that is completely managed by the port company, which does its own maintenance.
01:27The other part is a part managed by the concessionaires, between import and export of phosphate, ammonia, the export of clinker, cement and hydrogen products.
01:44Anaba is growing, and the acceleration of the work highlights its importance.
01:49The goal is to link it to the railway network to facilitate the transport of phosphate from the deposit of Bled-el-Adba.
01:57And finally, this new mineral terminal will export more than 6 million tons per year.
02:05The objective of this project is to better export the national mineral resource and to enhance the phosphate deposit.
02:13Because it will allow to accommodate large porters.
02:17With its Tyrandeau, which is less than 16 meters long, and its length doubled, it will accommodate ships of up to 80,000 tons.
02:24It will be equipped to facilitate the loading and unloading operations, to re-rationalize in terms of operation.
02:30It will allow us to export more and to gain in terms of maintenance time, which will allow to boost the national economy and the local economy.
02:43Because this project will contribute to create jobs during the realization phase, then during the export phase.
02:50So it's a project that has a very positive impact.
02:54More to the west, in the Wilaya of Djidjel, at 350 km from Algiers, we find the port of Djedjen.
03:00Difficult to ignore, it is the largest port in Algeria.
03:04Located on the maritime road connecting the Suez Canal to the Detroit of Gibraltar,
03:10this position gives it a role as a hub of transcontinental traffic.
03:15Djedjen intends to play a pivotal role between Africa, Europe and Asia,
03:21and exports have exploded in the space of five years, and the goal is to double them in the next five years.
03:28Currently, all ships that come to Algeria are transported via Malta, via Valence.
03:38Currently, the objective is to have a direct link between Asia in particular, Asia, China and other Asian countries,
03:46directly to Algeria, and to have the port of Djedjen as a hub that can serve the other Algerian ports
03:52that do not have the same water supply as the port of Djedjen.
03:58Another improvement, a highway under construction.
04:01It will soon penetrate the very heart of the port infrastructure and will link it to the French zone of Belhara.
04:07Belhara, this is where the complex of the Algero-Qatari company of Siderurgie is located.
04:13The production of the complex covers the national demand and exports to about thirty countries.
04:18The complex employs 7,212 people. With its nine units, it produced 1.7 million tons in 2023.
04:31The objective is to always ensure the self-sufficiency of these Siderurgic products in Algeria.
04:38And the extra goes to exports.
04:41So, let's talk about exports.
04:43Of course, we already have partners at the ports of Algeria, but especially with the port of Djedjen.
04:49A collaboration with us to always try to be at the global level of performance in 2024.
04:58We will try to reach 700,000 tons of finished products.
05:04For 2025, the objective will be even higher, to be at 800,000 tons.
05:11Let's move away, more than 100 km from the port of Djedjen, to find the port of Bejaia.
05:16Its existence dates back to the Phoenician era.
05:19It is connected to the oil fields of Assi-Messahoud by oleoducs and has three basins,
05:25of which the one at the port is intended for oil ships.
05:29Its strategic position gives it an engine of economic development for the region and for the country.
05:35It is also a logistical facilitator for the outskirts,
05:39located in Borjbou, in Reridj, which dopes the industrial and economic fabric of the basins,
05:45high plateaus and Wilaya Limitrof.
05:48And that's not all.
05:49The Algerians who want to go to Europe now have a passenger terminal, Flambanneuf.
05:56The port of Bejaia has a last-generation maritime station.
06:02The capacity of the passengers is up to one million passengers per year
06:09and perhaps more than 100,000 vehicles.
06:13It is connected by a gateway that connects the ship directly to the maritime station,
06:20which allows our passengers to transit in the best conditions of comfort and security.
06:31We will have understood.
06:32These ports form the cornerstone of a maritime strategic vision.
06:36Algeria intends to strengthen its role as a leader in the field of trade
06:41and regional, continental and global maritime logistics.
06:46The strategy, which is built on the horizon of 2035,
06:49will have to equip Algeria with a series of basic infrastructures
06:55that will strengthen its role as a pivot country in terms of logistics in Africa and the Mediterranean.
07:03It is a challenge that we will win to place Algeria in its major role
07:09as a pioneer for the African and Mediterranean regions.
07:12Another major project that we are carrying out in Arzeu
07:16is the realization of new landfills, new quays.
07:19This will allow this port and Algeria in general to increase its hospitality capacities
07:25and provide support to economic operators,
07:28especially those specialized in the export of hydrocarbons,
07:33to support them and provide them with a logistics infrastructure
07:37that fully and perfectly meets the demand.
07:41This will also boost our exports of hydrocarbons.
07:49And it is at the foot of this gigantic ship that this chapter ends.
07:53We will meet again very soon in Algeria.
