00:00At Fieldings Auctioneers this month we bring you a remarkable collection of
00:04Bilston enamel patch boxes and snuff boxes to be sold on Thursday the 14th
00:09of November at 9.30pm beginning at lot number one and ending at lot 20.
00:15Incredible collection because the condition is so remarkably good whereas
00:20most boxes that we do find on our travels will have some damages or cracks.
00:25The patch box or Bilston enamel boxes came very much from the French Huguenots
00:30who were under persecution from religious means and settled here in the
00:35first box being made in 1745 and then later on in the actual high rise of
00:41enameling we will see that the boxes in prolific manufacturing during 1800 to
00:461850 with the last manufacturers leaving in 1850. A quite incredible collection
00:52and not on a par with those many of those housed in the private collection
00:56at Bantock House Museum in Wolverhampton.
