00:00The Purple Heart is a war film, it's a period of peace drama.
00:17Our main character, Private Stephen Gorman, he has returned home.
00:21He's going to visit his fiancée, Frances, and her parents, but their son, Billy, died
00:28on the battlefield and Stephen actually feels very responsible for his death, so he carries
00:34a lot of shame.
00:35So this story is really about Stephen reconnecting with his fiancée's mother, Mrs. Godfrey,
00:41who blames him as well.
00:43There's very few short films in general that have a deep meaning and really draw out a
00:51lot of emotion, and so I think that's one thing that this short film does really well.
00:57A movie is good when it is trying to convey an emotion that has a message behind it.
01:06So this film has themes of forgiveness and healing and grief, and those are all something
01:11that are incredibly relevant.
01:13Forgiveness is tough because if it's really a true offense, it's not really deserved.
01:21If it was anyone other than Stephen, she could just continue on being bitter about
01:27it, and there really would be no consequences to that.
01:31But since it is Stephen, and since Stephen has this relationship with Frances, it needs
01:36to be figured out now with their engagement, but also with him returning home.
01:42This caliber of a project wouldn't be possible without your support.
01:47If you head on over to our Indiegogo page, it would mean the world to me if you could
01:53donate something to this project to be able to bring it from the page to the screen.
